→Review prescription and patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment
→Determine suitable treatment administration and modifications that may be needed, compatible with physician orders
→Set up and operate devices including mechanical ventilators, nebulizers, and/or compressors
→Operate equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment such as volume, oxygen concentration, and/or temperature
→Monitor patient response to therapy via vital sign and blood chemistry changes
→Observe equipment function and adjust equipment to obtain optimal results
→Consult with physician in event of adverse reaction
→Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure it is functioning safely and efficiently
→Order repairs when needed
→Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees
→Perform staff education at customer facilities
→Perform tracheostomy tube changes
