As Vegetable & Ornamental Grower, you will play a vital role in managing, organizing, directing and controlling the activities of greenhouse growing. Your crop responsibilities will account for long-term ornamental production, as well as seasonal vegetable and herb offerings. You will work with the growing department to assess crop quality and ensure healthy and pest free ornamentals, vegetables, and herbs. You will implement preventative measures to ensure plants are pest and disease free and have optimal conditions to thrive and grow.

Responsibilities

→Ensure plants are provided with proper nutrients and water
→Monitor the greenhouse environment, making adjustments as needed
→Monitor crop quality and waste to determine opportunities for improvement
→Monitor for pests and disease
→Assist with spraying and the I.P.M. Program
→Maintain records of crop, shrink reports and spray records
→Maintain daily communication with the department to coordinate daily activities and to ensure continuous improvement
→Identify systemic problems and suggest solutions for remediation
→Work within the parameters of CFIA regulations
→Attendance of weekly meetings with growing team
→Work within safety guidelines established by Freeman Herbs and identify areas of safety concern
→Keep a clean and tidy work environment

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a greenhouse/horticultural setting
