Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is strengthening its Ebola and outbreak response capacity and is looking for experienced professionals who can support short-term international assignments in response to disease outbreaks and humanitarian emergencies. We are building an emergency response pool of qualified candidates who can be mobilised quickly when operational needs arise.

Assignments are typically expected to last 6 to 8 weeks, allowing experienced professionals to contribute to critical outbreak responses while maintaining flexibility in their professional and personal commitments.

By joining our Ebola & Epidemic Emergency Response Pool, you become part of a group of qualified professionals who may be rapidly matched with short-term international assignments supporting MSF's response to Ebola and other infectious disease outbreaks.

This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise where it is needed most and work alongside diverse teams responding to some of the world's most challenging humanitarian emergencies.

We are interested in hearing from both medical and non-medical professionals with relevant outbreak, epidemic, emergency, humanitarian, or public health experience.

Examples of profiles include (click on the link to read the job description):

Candidates with previous experience in Ebola, Viral Haemorrhagic Fever (VHF), cholera, measles, COVID-19, mpox, or similar outbreak responses are particularly encouraged to apply.

You:

  • Are available for international assignment within a short timeframe.

  • Have experience in humanitarian or emergency response settings.

  • Have relevant professional qualifications and experience.

  • Are comfortable working in rapidly changing and resource-constrained environments.

  • Demonstrate resilience and adaptability under pressure.

  • Have strong collaboration and communication skills.

  • Are committed to MSF's humanitarian principles and ethical guidelines (read: https://legerutengrenser.no/om-oss/grunnprinsipper/ and https://legerutengrenser.no/om-oss/etiske-retningslinjer/)

  • Have a good command of English (minimum CEFR B2) and be comfortable using English in professional settings.

  • Have basic French language skills (minimum CEFR A2), or be motivated to develop them before assignment. French is an important working language in many of the countries where MSF responds to outbreaks and humanitarian emergencies.

The following will be considered an asset:

  • Previous MSF field experience.

  • Experience in outbreak or epidemic response.

  • Experience working in humanitarian or low-resource settings.

  • French language proficiency.

Assignments may involve:

  • Supporting outbreak responses in complex humanitarian contexts.

  • Working within strict infection prevention and control protocols.

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

  • Assignments of varying duration depending on operational needs.

  • Additional monitoring or observation periods where required by operational protocols or local authorities.

Successful candidates will join the pool and may be considered for assignments as needs arise. To support urgent emergency responses, the selection process may be accelerated when required. Inclusion in the pool does not guarantee an assignment.
