We are a busy, two-career household in Huntington Woods with two school-aged children and two cats. Both parents have demanding professional schedules that often extend into evenings and weekends, with regular travel as part of the mix. Between school, activities, meals, appointments, errands, and household responsibilities, we are looking for someone who can step into our family's rhythm and help keep daily life organized and running smoothly.

Our home has a warm, active energy, and there is almost always something happening on the calendar. We are looking for someone who can anticipate needs, take ownership of the details, and reduce the mental load of managing a busy household. Whether that means noticing groceries are running low, following up on a repair, or staying ahead of a school deadline, we value someone who can see what needs to happen and take the appropriate next step.

We value proactive thinking, flexibility, clear communication, strong judgment, and someone who genuinely enjoys being part of a busy family's daily life. Privacy and discretion are especially important due to the nature of one parent's professional role, so the right person will understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality and earning the family's trust.

You are the kind of person who notices what needs to happen before someone has to ask. You are highly organized without being rigid, warm without being overbearing, and steady even when a day does not go according to plan. You enjoy creating systems, solving problems, and bringing order to the logistics and details that allow a household to run smoothly.

You understand the importance of privacy and discretion and recognize the trust that comes with being welcomed into a family’s home. You are also tech-savvy, organized, and confident navigating household apps, shared calendars, school platforms such as Canvas, and managing subscriptions and accounts to keep the household running smoothly.

You communicate proactively and concisely. Whether that means sending a quick text during the afternoon or providing a simple end-of-day recap, your communication gives the family confidence that things have been handled without requiring constant oversight.

You genuinely enjoy being around kids and know how to connect with older children without being controlling or trying too hard. One of our kids benefits from additional support related to ADHD, executive functioning, and emotional regulation, so we are looking for someone who understands that context, does not take difficult moments personally, and can respond with patience, empathy, consistency, and emotional steadiness.

You are also comfortable taking initiative. If the family needs a household service, you can research options, make the call, coordinate the appointment, and follow through. If transportation plans change, you can figure out the next-best solution. If groceries are running low, you do not need someone to hand you a list before taking action.

  • Make straightforward travel reservations once the family has determined the destination and itinerary
  • Assist with family travel preparation, including assisting children with packing or unpacking and ensuring household, pet, or cottage arrangements are in place before travel
  • Provide concise communication throughout the day as needed, with the goal of transitioning to a simple end-of-day recap once routines are established
  • Maintain a household maintenance calendar and proactively monitor routine needs such as HVAC, air purifiers, filters, batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, and other recurring home maintenance
  • Identify routine household maintenance needs before they become larger issues
  • Research, schedule, and oversee household repairs and service providers, serving as the primary point of contact and keeping the parents updated on progress
  • Coordinate recurring vendors including landscapers, garden maintenance, pest control, house cleaning, and other household service providers
  • Manage light upkeep of patios and walkways, including occasional leaf blowing and tidying of weeds around walkways
  • Serve as a virtual point of contact for the family's seasonal cottage, including communicating with the property or rental management team and coordinating supplies or household needs before family visits
  • Coordinate periodic exterior washing, interior cleaning, and scheduled maintenance of family vehicles
  • Maintain a schedule of and track routine vehicle maintenance
  • Gradually tackle household organization and decluttering projects as regular responsibilities allow, beginning with the home office
