Senior Compensation Specialist

At Wheels, compensation is more than a set of numbers. It helps us recognize contributions, make thoughtful pay decisions, and build programs employees and leaders can trust. We’re looking for a Senior Compensation Specialist who enjoys solving complex problems, finding the story in data, and turning sound analysis into practical advice.

In this role, you’ll help shape the employee experience through market pricing, salary structures, annual pay planning, incentive programs, and Wheels Rewards, our employee recognition program. You’ll partner with HR and business leaders to make compensation decisions that are competitive, equitable, and consistent.

Responsibilities

·  Advise on pay decisions. Partner with People Team and business leaders on compensation for new hires, promotions, transfers, reorganizations, and changing roles, balancing market data, internal equity, and company guidelines.

·  Deliver the annual compensation cycle. Build budget models, planning tools, and manager guidance for merit, bonus, and salary planning. Support the design, administration, and auditing of annual and sales incentive plans.

·  Shape our job and pay structures. Lead market pricing; maintain salary structures, grades, job levels, and career paths; and provide guidance on job descriptions, evaluations, and FLSA classifications. Manage compensation survey submissions and vendor relationships.

·  Run and improve Wheels Rewards. Manage the recognition platform and vendor, budgets, awards, badges, and participant support. Analyze participation and spending to recommend program improvements.

·  Turn data into decisions. Build reports and cost scenarios for compensation programs, new hires, promotions, reorganizations, and headcount plans. Explain findings and recommend practical next steps.

·  Maintain reliable systems and practices. Configure and audit Workday job profiles, compensation plans, grades, and data loads. Support pay equity reviews and compensation compliance across the states where we operate.

·  Help people understand their rewards. Develop total rewards statements, employee communications, manager resources, and training on compensation and bonus planning.

·  At least five years of experience in compensation, benefits, or HR, including experience as a Compensation Analyst.

·  Experience using Payfactors and Workday, including compensation planning and job profile or compensation data configuration.

·  Strong analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to explain complex findings clearly.

·  Working knowledge of pay transparency, pay equity, and FLSA requirements.

·  The judgment to handle sensitive pay information with discretion and offer thoughtful advice when decisions are complex.

·  A collaborative approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

A bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience is welcome. A Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or other WorldatWork credential is preferred, and HR certification is a plus.

Our core values are Integrity, One Team, Innovation, and Customer Success. They guide the decisions we make and how we work with employees, customers, and one another. Our cultural attributes bring those values to life:

·  Discipline Drives Quality — Plan the Trip: Think ahead, use sound processes, and follow through to deliver quality work.

·  Intellectually Curious — Fuel Your Minds: Ask questions, challenge assumptions, and explore better ways to solve problems.

·  Commit and Deliver — Own It: Take responsibility for your work and see it through to results.

·  Relationships Matter — Share the Ride: Build trust and strong partnerships across teams.

You’ll have room to improve programs, collaborate across the business, and see the impact of your work.
