Research Assistant (Science of Learning in Education Centre) [NIE]

The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 6-month contract (renewable) at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC).

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education Technology, or a related field

• Prior experience serving as a platform administrator (Moodle, WordPress LMS, etc.), including managing user accounts, roles, permissions, and system configuration.
• Prior experience of integrating LMS with xAPI and LRS is preferred.
• Prior experience supporting online learning or digital learning environments
• Prior experience working in educational, research, or training contexts
• Prior experience with basic data handling, analytics, or reporting
• Prior experience supporting research or educational projects

• Strong interest in educational technology and digital learning innovation
• Interest in improving learning experiences in higher education settings
• Good technical problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Good interpersonal skills and service-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently, proactively, and collaboratively within a research team

• →Set up, configure, and maintain e-learning platforms (e.g., Moodle, WordPress LMS, or similar systems)
• →Take ownership of LMS platform (e.g., installation, plugin setup, course structure), in addition to ongoing maintenance.
• →Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of online learning environments for the program
• →Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely support to users and project members
• →Support integration of learning tools, plugins, and third-party applications as needed
• →Monitor system performance and ensure platform stability, security, and updates
• →Support the delivery of online learning activities and related program operations
• →Assist in organising and managing digital learning content and resources
• →Contribute to data extraction, usage tracking, and reporting when required
• →Track platform usage and generate reports/analytics
• →Support research and program-related activities as assigned by the Principal Investigators
• →Perform other tasks as required by the project team
