Contexte

Context

The Digital HW/SoC (System on Chip) department of the Secure Connected Edge business unit, based in Valbonne, is seeking a final-year engineering intern for a 6-month internship to contribute to the development of innovative Artificial Intelligence-based methodologies for digital hardware block integration.

The internship will take place within the Digital Design and Integration team, which develops solutions and components for Mobile Communications, Secure Payments, Digital Identity, Internet of Things (IoT), and NFC infrastructure markets. The team is involved throughout the entire hardware development cycle, from specification and architecture definition to design verification and final silicon validation.

In digital circuit design projects (ASIC and FPGA), integrating RTL IP blocks from various internal and external sources is a critical but often challenging task. This phase frequently introduces errors related to misinterpretation of configurable parameters, interface incompatibilities, signal polarity mismatches, undocumented assumptions, and common integration issues involving clocks, resets, and communication buses.

Recent advances in Artificial Intelligence technologies offer new opportunities to automate the analysis of RTL code and its associated documentation.

In this context, we aim to explore the use of an internal AI tool platform to assist engineers in the integration and verification of digital IPs.

We are recruiting a final-year engineering intern for a 6-month internship to design and develop an AI-based solution to automate and improve the reliability of RTL IP integration within our ASIC and FPGA projects.

Your Responsibilities

The intern will be involved in one or more of the following activities:

  • Study RTL integration challenges in ASIC and FPGA environments.

  • Become familiar with the Artificial Intelligence platform.

  • Analyze the current IP integration and verification flows used within the team.

  • Identify major pain points and recurring integration issues.

Implement AI-based analysis mechanisms to perform:

  • Extract RTL parameters and generics.

  • Identify default values and associated constraints.

  • Automatically recognize standard protocols and buses (AXI, APB, AHB, etc.).

  • Identify control, data, and handshake signals.

  • Analyze reset, enable, and interrupt signals.

  • Detect potential active-high/active-low inconsistencies.

  • Verify clock and reset connectivity.

  • Detect port mapping issues.

  • Identify unused or floating signals.

  • Detect interface compatibility and bus width mismatches.

  • Develop a prototype integration-assistance tool (script, graphical interface, or plugin).

  • Integrate AI analysis capabilities into an existing RTL design and verification flow.

  • Automatically generate analysis reports for design teams.

  • Validate the solution using a representative set of real IPs.

  • Compare results against traditional manual integration methods.

  • Evaluate improvements in terms of productivity, quality, and error detection.

  • Document conclusions and provide recommendations for potential industrial deployment.

Your Profile

Final-year Master's degree (M.Sc.) or Engineering School student (equivalent to Bac+5) in one of the following fields:

  • Microelectronics

  • Digital Electronics

  • Integrated Circuit Design

  • Embedded Systems

  • Computer Engineering

  • RTL digital design.

  • Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.

  • Software development and scripting, ideally Python and/or Perl.

  • Linux environment.

  • Strong technical curiosity.

  • Autonomous and detail-oriented.

  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset.

  • Ability to work effectively within an international team environment.

A good command of English is required as the internship will be conducted in a multi-site international environment.
