Software EngineeringIntegration Developer

Contribute to the advancement and modernization of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) supporting critical defense missions. As a Senior Systems Integration Engineer specializing in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), you will help shape complex system architectures, translate operational needs into engineering requirements, and ensure effective integration across platforms and subsystems. You will apply systems engineering expertise to technical planning, performance analysis, risk assessments, and design evaluations throughout the system lifecycle. Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and government stakeholders, you will support airworthiness, system safety, and operational effectiveness objectives. Your work will help strengthen the reliability, interoperability, and readiness of advanced defense capabilities. This full-time, on-site opportunity is based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, and requires a Top Secret security clearance and occasional travel.

You will provide senior-level systems engineering and integration support for defense acquisition and modernization programs, ensuring technical solutions align with operational requirements, engineering standards, and lifecycle objectives. You will contribute to system architecture development, design reviews, risk management, certification activities, and technical documentation while providing guidance across complex integration environments.

  • Apply Department of Defense (DoD) 5000-series acquisition guidance and Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) engineering policies to Special Operations Forces (SOF) acquisition engineering activities.

  • Develop, analyze, and manage system and subsystem requirements, translating operational needs into design criteria, technical specifications, and integration objectives.

  • Conduct technical planning, systems integration analyses, engineering trade studies, and risk assessments across complex weapon system architectures.

  • Support the definition of system performance requirements and develop estimates for design, development, integration, and sustainment activities.

  • Review engineering proposals, system designs, specifications, and change packages, recommending improvements to cost, schedule, and technical performance.

  • Conduct engineering evaluations supporting airworthiness certification under MIL-HDBK-516, system safety under MIL-STD-882, and Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E).

  • Participate in engineering and design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), working groups, and program reviews, providing technical recommendations, documentation, and status reports.

  • Support technical planning, integration, risk analysis, and supportability assessments for SOF systems, including full-mission trainers, operational flight trainers, avionics desktop trainers, courseware, and maintenance training devices.

  • Provide engineering leadership and technical direction for systems operating in large-scale distributed and virtual environments.

  • Apply networking expertise involving protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, and SSL to support system integration.

  • Leverage development experience across Windows, Sun, Linux, and Unix platforms, including C/C++ and Java.

  • Support Information Assurance (IA) accreditation and implementation of IA controls for projects, including ACAT I Platform Information Technology (PIT) systems.

  • Produce engineering artifacts and technical deliverables supporting systems integration, OSS&E, airworthiness certification, system safety, and lifecycle systems engineering in accordance with DAFI 63-1201.
