Vehicle Mechanic II

A Maintenance Vehicle Mechanic II is responsible for assisting with all fleet-maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance, follow-up documentation, on-call duties, vehicle work orders

Core Responsibilities 

• Fleet maintenance, including a SAFETY-FIRST MANDATE to allow only safe and functional vehicles to be used by the Agency.
• Preventative maintenance (inspections, registrations, weekly vehicle checks, and monthly checks on safety equipment).
• 24-hour vehicle on-call duties.
• Documentation including repair vendors, automotive dealerships, billing requests, and mileage-report assistance.
• New-vehicle prep work, including the installation of safety equipment.
• Vehicle trade-in prep work, including the removal of safety equipment and license plates.

Required Qualifications  

• Minimum--high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Vehicle tool use and safety knowledge.
• Reasoning ability--making vehicle repairs and purchases based on Agency parameters and safety guidelines.

  Travel is required.  Must have a valid NY State driver’s license.
