Engineer - Mechanical and Structures
Quick Summary
AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION: Yes RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: No relocation assistance available CLEARANCE TYPE: AU- Secret (NV1) TRAVEL: Yes,
We are Northrop Grumman Australia (NGA).
Our 800 strong team is leveraging unparalleled global resources to deliver sovereign Defence capability aligned to the Government’s priorities across Aeronautics, Mission Critical Systems, Space and Guided Weapons. As we build our business and our capabilities, we are also developing a reputation as a great place to work. Help us define what is possible for our nation and for your career.
Attention Aerospace, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineers early in your careers, this is the kind of role that can accelerate your development far beyond what you'd typically find in a post graduate or junior engineering positions.
You'll be part of the Engineering & Technical Services team, helping connect technical information from the OEM and other stakeholders with the technicians and maintainers who keep the aircraft fleet operating safely and effectively. Rather than being given a narrow piece of work, you'll gain exposure to aircraft sustainment, engineering investigations, modifications, technical information reviews and Defence aviation processes while working alongside experienced engineers who will actively help build your capability.
The team is also introducing new Defence-specific systems and processes, creating opportunities to contribute ideas, influence how work is done and develop an understanding of aircraft sustainment from the ground up.
This role is based in Springfield or Pinkenba (Brisbane Airport), Queensland. Hybrid working, and a 9 day fortnight option available.
Responsibilities
~1 min readIn this position you will:
- →Work alongside experienced aerospace engineers and build your capability across aircraft sustainment, airworthiness and technical support.
- →Act as the link between Airbus engineering information and the technicians maintaining the KC-30A fleet.
- →Contribute to engineering investigations, maintenance improvements and technical problem-solving that support aircraft availability.
- →Help shape new Defence-specific systems and processes while gaining exposure to how a major sustainment program operates.
- →Develop the knowledge, experience and engineering authority needed to progress your career within Defence aviation.
You're likely a recent Aerospace, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering graduate with one to three years' experience.
You might have picked up some experience through an internship, placement, part-time role or graduate position, but you don't need years of aviation experience behind you. What matters most is your willingness to learn, work well with others and apply what you've learned at university to real engineering challenges.
You'll enjoy this role if you're naturally curious, like understanding how things work, and are keen to learn from experienced engineers while building a career in aviation or Defence.
