The Behavioral Health and Forensic Clinical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Colonial Behavioral Health Docket, including referral and screening processes, case staffing, treatment coordination, participant monitoring, court reporting, continuity of care, and discharge planning. This position will collect and maintain data as necessary for DIMS and other grant-related statistics and will submit all required grant-related reports. This position works collaboratively with prosecutors, defense counsel, courts, community corrections, law enforcement, behavioral health providers, and community partners to support appropriate treatment, diversion, supervision, and case management strategies for justice-involved individuals with behavioral health needs.

The Behavioral Health and Forensic Clinical Coordinator leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Court’s and Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office’s efforts to provide mental health treatment in criminal cases as an alternative to incarceration. The position provides advanced professional clinical, forensic behavioral health, and program coordination work supporting justice-involved individuals who have serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders, or other significant behavioral health needs. This position serves as a clinical resource by conducting or coordinating behavioral health screening and assessment, reviewing relevant clinical and criminal justice information, providing clinical consultation, identifying treatment and service needs, and facilitating referrals for appropriate behavioral health and forensic evaluations. This position designs proactive and responsive programs to address the burden upon the criminal justice system with incidents driven by episodes of mental health instability that would be more appropriately addressed in a therapeutic setting.
