Software Engineer (TS/SCI with Poly Required)

At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Software Engineer / Platform Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties:

The Software / Platform Engineer will design and develop scalable data and AI infrastructure platforms, or make significant enhancements to existing platforms.  The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with significant experience in building cloud-native data platforms on AWS, with AI/ML infrastructure, business intelligence, analytics, and data products.  They must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in big data technologies, AI tooling, and the proven ability to fashion robust solutions that can manage large data sets and AI workloads. They must be at ease working in an Agile environment with little supervision.  This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.

• →Design and develop cloud-native data and AI infrastructure platforms on AWS using Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management technologies
• →Build and maintain MLOps pipelines and infrastructure for AI/ML workloads, LLM applications, and vector search capabilities
• →Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
• →Troubleshoot complex problems and provide support for platform and infrastructure issues
• →Provide recommendations for continuous improvement and integration of emerging AI technologies
• →Work alongside data engineers, ML engineers, and software developers to sustain and advance our organization’s capabilities

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
• 8+ years of related software development experience.

• Hands-on experience with modern programming languages including Python or JavaScript
• Hands-on experience working with Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, and NiFi
• Strong AWS experience with services including EC2, EKS, S3, Lambda, SageMaker, Bedrock, EMR, and IAM
• DevOps experience building and deploying cloud infrastructure with technologies like Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.
• Experience with build automation technologies like, Jenkins, Github actions, etc.
• Experience with Linux

• We are looking for a candidate with hands-on experience and is familiar with one or more of the following software/tools:
  • Experience with monitoring technologies like ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.
  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure including MLOps pipelines, vector databases, model deployment, and integration with LLM platforms
• Experience with AI development tools and integrating AI-assisted development capabilities
