JOB OVERVIEW Job Id: Y-XX-3426663 Profession: Optometrist Specialty: Optometrist Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Houlton, ME Service Setting: Clinic, FQHC Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: Sep 14, 2026 – Mar 15, 2027 Clinical Shift Schedule: Tue – Fri, 7:30a – 6:00p Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Travel and Lodging covered ($1,800 monthly cap, 1 roundtrip flight per contract) PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: All ages, high Medicaid population Patient Volume/Census: 16 per day Case Mix: General optometry, emergency eye care FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: Athena Support Staff Available: 1 Optometric Tech, 1 Optician Reason for Coverage: Full-time coverage needed PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Credentialing Timeline: Minimal credentialing (FQHC) JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active ME license preferred Board: Board Certification by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry Experience: Experience in FQHC or high-volume Medicaid setting preferred Other Qualifications: Graduation from an approved school of optometry. Clean criminal and DHHS background. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide quality eye care and emergency treatment to a diverse patient population. Examine eyes and visual systems to diagnose problems or impairments. Prescribe corrective lenses and provide comprehensive treatment plans. Prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions as needed. Work collaboratively across two campus locations (South Patten and Houlton) within an FQHC setting.
