At Sibanye-Stillwater, the Supervisor - Stationary Maintenance provides frontline leadership for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of stationary mechanical maintenance for associated fixed-plant systems. The Supervisor converts the approved weekly schedule and resource-ready work prepared by the Planner - Stationary Maintenance & Electrical into daily shift execution by validating field readiness, directing stationary-maintenance crews, controlling risk and quality, coordinating equipment access and outages with Operations and Electrical, and returning accurate completion, condition, and variance information. The Planner owns detailed planning and integrated scheduling across stationary and electrical work; this Supervisor owns safe field execution and supervision of stationary-maintenance work only, within priorities and direction established by the General Foreman - Stationary & Electrical Maintenance.

  • Reinforce safe behaviors and compliance with Group Minimum Standards and ensure work is performed safely, adhering to standard operating procedures and approved working methods and stopping unsafe work immediately, mandating corrective action, holding employees accountable, and escalating appropriately.
  • Identify and control hazards within area of responsibility by completing all formal and informal inspections and audits, directing corrective actions by reallocating resources and personnel and incorporating external stakeholders when/where appropriate, and ensuring immediate reporting of incidents and near misses via standardized channels of communication.
  • Ensure crew members are trained for assigned tasks by working with the safety department to identify any task training deficiencies and enabling time for task training, campaign training, and procedure reviews for all crew members.
  • Communicate shift plan and expectations clearly, assigning shift tasks and allocating resources/equipment.
  • Identify emerging maintenance needs and provide the Planner with accurate equipment condition, priority, access, safety, and scope information; participate in field walkdowns or scope validation when requested.
  • Review assigned work packets before execution to confirm that scope, hazards, controls, permits, parts, tools, equipment, documents, and required skills are understood and available; promptly return incomplete or non-executable work to the Planner for resolution.
  • Manage task sequencing and crew allocation within the shift and coordinate with the Planner before deferring scheduled work, adding break-in work, or making changes affecting the weekly schedule, except when immediate action is required to protect people, the environment, or equipment.
  • Maintain operating and quality standards within shift boundaries, reassigning personnel as needed and coordinating with other departments regarding scheduling and execution.
  • Ensure completed work orders accurately document work performed, labor hours, materials used, equipment condition, failure information, additional work identified, and reasons for variance before closure or return to the Planner.
  • Ensure follow-up work requests are submitted for defects, deferred repairs, additional scope, or emerging conditions identified during execution, with sufficient information for planning.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels to support plan compliance by managing leave requests and communicating anticipated shortages and overtime requirements to the General Foreman and workforce-planning function.
  • Manage consumables and materials usage by monitoring and adjusting the distribution of materials and tools, stopping misuse, and unnecessary expenses.
  • Ensure accurate shift productivity, quality, safety, maintenance, and cost reporting by validating information before submission and requiring correction of inaccuracies.
  • Provide accurate and timely explanations for completed, deferred, rescheduled, and break-in work so schedule-compliance reporting reflects actual field conditions.
