As Employment Tax Manager, you will lead employment tax compliance, governance and advisory activity. You will provide practical guidance across payroll, benefits, expenses, off-payroll working, share plans, internationally mobile employees, PAYE Settlement Agreements and, where relevant, the Construction Industry Scheme. You will also advise on reward, workforce, organisational change and business transformation initiatives.

Your day-to-day work will include designing and monitoring employment tax policies, processes and controls, maintaining the risk and control framework, and coordinating investigation and remediation where issues arise. You will assess new legislation and HMRC guidance, manage HMRC reviews, disclosures and enquiries, oversee employment-status and off-payroll governance, and work with advisers and auditors. You will also provide National Minimum Wage governance and advice, improve data and reporting, and educate non-tax specialists across the organisation.

You will bring demonstrable technical knowledge of UK employment taxes, National Insurance and PAYE, with practical experience across benefits, expenses and workforce arrangements. You will understand payroll, reward, employment-status and off-payroll risk, and be able to translate complex requirements into clear, commercially balanced actions for People, Payroll, Finance and operational stakeholders.

You will use evidence-based judgement when balancing legal requirements, colleague experience, commercial goals and reputational risk. You will be credible when engaging HMRC, external advisers and senior stakeholders, comfortable operating through ambiguity and organisational change, and committed to improving awareness and capability. A relevant professional qualification such as CTA, ACA or ACCA, or equivalent demonstrable experience, is required.
