We are seeking a highly motivated Water Resources Intern to join our team of experts. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the civil and environmental engineering industry. You will work alongside senior engineers and scientists on real-world projects that impact infrastructure, water quality, and community resilience throughout Virginia and the National Capital Area.

Assist in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analysis for storm drainage issues, floodplain studies, and dam safety.

Support the preparation of construction drawings and specifications for stormwater facilities, Green Infrastructure (GI), and Low Impact Development (LID) projects.

Occasionally support field investigations, including stormwater infrastructure inspections (MS4), illicit discharge detection, pond inspections, and stream assessments.

Utilize ArcGIS for mapping, data analysis, and watershed characterization.

Assist in the production of client deliverables, including technical memoranda, environmental permit applications, and engineering cost estimates.

Conduct background research on regulatory requirements (CWA, TMDL, MS4) and emerging water management technologies.

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Completed coursework in Fluid Mechanics, Hydrology, or Hydraulics is highly preferred.

Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil3D and ArcGIS. Exposure to H&H software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or SWMM is a plus.

Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.

Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
