West Liberty University is seeking applications for two full-time temporary Research Assistant positions to support innovative biomedical research in a collaborative laboratory environment. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about scientific discovery and want to gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside faculty researchers and students.

The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations, conducting experiments, maintaining research materials, and mentoring undergraduate researchers. The Opportunity

As a Research Assistant, you will contribute to ongoing biomedical research projects while helping maintain a productive and safe laboratory environment. You will work closely with faculty and students, gaining experience in experimental design, laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific research methodologies.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct scientific experiments and accurately record, organize, and analyze research data.
• Manage laboratory inventory and coordinate the ordering of supplies and materials.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including microscopes, spectrometers, and centrifuges.
• Prepare laboratory media and maintain bacterial cultures and cell lines.
• Support undergraduate and graduate students in designing and conducting laboratory experiments.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and prepare graphs, tables, presentations, and research summaries as needed.
• Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory workspaces and equipment.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Complete all required university training and safety modules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related field required.

Experience

• One to two years of laboratory, research, or related experience required.
