WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The Ophthalmic Technician works with our optometrists to provide high-quality eye care services and maintain an efficient clinical workflow. You'll have a hand in all parts of the patient care, making this a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the clinical, clerical, and customer service aspects of the role!

With a pleasant attitude, you'll help with new patient intake, documenting information, and diagnostic testing. You'll help patients choose the right lenses and train them on properly caring for their contacts. Between patients, you'll restock supplies, organize the exam room, and follow infection control practices to sanitize equipment. You'll make sure to follow HIPAA, clinical standards, and organizational policies in all your activities to maintain our safe, compliant, and quality patient care environment!

WHEN WILL YOU WORK?

Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:30 pm, with some flexibility to meet business needs.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

We would prefer that our Ophthalmic Technician have 1 - 3+ months of relevant experience/training in an ophthalmology, optometry, or eye care environment, but it's not required. Contact lens experience (fitting patients, ordering lenses, educating patients on care, etc.) would be beneficial. Experience operating ophthalmic equipment like lensometers, pachymeters, and/or visual field analyzers would be a bonus! The basic requirements are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to accurately collect and document patient information, medical history, and main complaints
  • Ability to perform visual acuity tests, applanation tonometry, and other ophthalmic tests as directed
  • Ability to efficiently coordinate patient flow and clinical tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional phone, electronic, and in-person communication skills

Our ideal person would also be willing to serve as an apprentice optician to meet staffing needs. Deepen your knowledge in the field and help us help our patients!
