Production Supervisor

Enables the efficient manufacture of pharmaceutical products, including highly potent compounds, in compliance with applicable cGMP and HSE regulations and in accordance with business requirements. Responsible for the definition, implementation and optimization of manufacturing processes and systems, aiming at full adherence to pre-established schedules while managing internal resources (people & equipment) and fulfilling customer requirements.

- Ensure that the Safety Data Sheets Folder is up to date with the products in use in production

- Ensure all conditions for the work areas to remain in adequate cleaning and storage conditions

- Ensure equipment is well-maintained in the TM area, including all productive equipment and clean rooms

- Participate and supervise periodic calibrations of the TM area, ensuring that the equipment is always used within the established limits

- Be an advocate for safe operating and high quality performance, identifying and mitigating any potential risk

- Participate in the preparation / review of documentation associated with the work of the area (eg IOP's, various instructions)

- Ensure the correct completion of records in the area, such as production sheets and logbooks

- Analyze the reason for not achieving the objectives (Quality and Safety indicators) and participate in the definition of corrective action plans

- Ensure the correct identification of the equipment that constitutes the work sections (through the plates, logbooks and the equipment itself)

- Collaborate in internal inspections and audits

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the processes in order to improve the productivity of the Operators and the Performance of the equipment

- Manage maintenance notifications by coordinating and verifying their execution

- Encourage periodic meetings with the Maintenance department to manage the work of the area

- Identify deficiencies and suggest improvements by developing maintenance packages (daily and / or medium / long term)

- Responsible for continuous training in the workplace of the integrated operators in the area, including training for upward mobility, in order to guarantee the career development objectives, Competencies, Safety, Quality and Productivity of the area

- Ensure team activities are carried out in compliance with all GMP, legal, HSE regulations, and applicable standards in the country of operation, complying with and enforcing all Hovione processes and good practice

- Ensure the facilities are maintained in a clean and organized way

- Maintain an open communication with colleagues, identifying and reporting any production, HSE, quality or other issues to management according to the required processes. The TM is expected to previously assess and proactively propose solutions for the identified issues

- Suggest and lead improvements in the area in which the TM is assigned

- Propose changes to equipment, process or procedures related with the area

- Manage assigned budget to implement any necessary changes/improvements defined for the area

- Responsible for the reception and integration of new operators in the production structure of the area

- Responsible for the integration of team members transferred from other production areas into the structure and particularities of operation of the area

- Management of material stocks / consumables of general use in the Production Area. Ensure timely consumption of materials in SAP after batch producion has been completed

- Assure the team’s effective use and management of personal protective equipment

- Use computer programs correctly (including but not limited to email, SAP and XNET)

- Support the implementation of documentation changes and introductions

- Provide continuous input and feedback regarding the performance of the team, setting a role model reference regards soft and technical skills. Can calibrate performance assessment across the operational team in the area

- Supervise the TMs assigned to his/her area of responsibility and distribute work tasks. Provide input to ensure HR processes run smoothly, namely in terms of recruitment, integration, training needs and performance management in accordance with the company's HR policies. Ensure all TMs are aligned and motivated towards achieving Hovione's goals, values and culture by promoting their personal and professional development whilst maximizing productivity

- Ensure area goals are properly cascaded to the team

- Ensure compliance with GMP and HSE guidelines, internal and external requirements as well as promote the implementation and maintenance of Hovione´s policies, systems and procedures (COPs, HBR, SOPs and others) within his/ her TMs

- Undertake any additional tasks commensurate with the role as and when required

- Troubleshoot systems and take appropriate action as required

- Actively collaborate in investigations of abnormal/unexpected events

- Respond swiftly and collaborate with the team, helping to define the actions to be taken, in case of equipment downtime and/or deviations from the process described in production record

- Review and implement hazard assessments before production activities take place

- Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and to comply with environmental, health & safety rules/procedures, regulations and codes of practice

- Full secondary school qualifications or equivalent (mandatory)

- Degree in Chemical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent job experience

- Experience of working in a manufacturing or production environment (mandatory)

- Formal knowledge or experience of working with process systems utilized in fine chemicals or pharmaceutical operations (mandatory)

- Successful completion of all mandatory training as a Senior Production Operator and Team Lead (highly desirable)

- Significant experience of working in a fine chemicals or pharmaceutical production environment (mandatory)

- A thorough understanding of all ChemOps and PharmOps unit operations (mandatory)

- In-depth understanding of GMP regulations (mandatory).

- Proven experience in training and leading others in the field

- Able to comply with the tasks described in the technical competencies’ matrix applicable to functional Area and able to effectively train others on them

- Highly skilled at running work processes and its related tools

- Numerical capability for simple arithmetic

- Clear and open communication skills (written and verbal)

- Good communication skills (written and verbal) and fluent in English (desirable).

- Computer literate

- Knowledge of the practice management instructions of the area (including but not limited to 5S methodology, management indicators, rules of waste management, safety standards, system improvement ideas)

- Must have the Knowledge, Experience and Skills to conduct their tasks in accordance with the rules and procedures set down
