MarketingLifecycle Marketing Specialist

We are looking for a Lifecyle Marketing Specialist to own email and SMS campaigns across all Memphis Basketball brands, including the Memphis Grizzlies, the Memphis Hustle, Grind City Media, and the FedExForum. You will help plan the email strategy, build it, and report on KPIs. You will also manage our SMS program in close partnership with the Marketing Director. This role is for someone who sees the fan lifecycle, email and SMS as a system built to engage fans and grow revenue versus checking boxes tied to a calendar of sends. You are strategic, innovative, organized, and keep projects moving.

  • Own the lifecycle and SMS strategies in partnership with the Marketing Director.
  • Build and deploy email and SMS campaigns across multiple brands to support priority audiences, nurture streams, triggered/behavioral flows, retention, and win-back campaigns.
  • Stay current on email, SMS, and lifecycle marketing best practices.
  • Test emails and SMS campaigns, including links, personalization, desktop and mobile user experience, campaign details, offers, and messaging to ensure accuracy pre-deployment.
  • Maintain campaign schedules and ensure timely execution.
  • Support email deliverability, list hygiene, and compliance best practices.
  • Drive an A/B testing framework across subject lines, messaging, creative, audience segments, and send timing to identify opportunities to improve engagement and conversion.
  • Share learnings and recommendations with the broader marketing team.
  • Track, analyze, and report on KPIs and campaign performance. Contribute ideas that improve fan engagement and campaign effectiveness.
  • Help maintain dashboards and reporting tools in partnership with the analytics team.
  • Partner with the creative team to ensure campaign assets are delivered on time.
  • Help keep projects organized and moving across multiple stakeholders.
  • Partner with marketing, sales, ticketing, partnerships, content, and analytics teams to support campaign goals.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree from University, college or art institute, or equivalent professional work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing, with ownership of automated programs at scale.
  • A lifecycle mindset: you see lifecycle as an engine to be designed and improved to engage the fanbase and grow revenue.
  • Proven hands-on experience building audiences, automations, and journeys in an enterprise email or marketing automation platform.
  • Experience leading or owning an SMS program, with an understanding of SMS compliance requirements.
  • Working understanding of email deliverability best practices and privacy regulations.
  • Strong grounding in testing and experimentation, from setup through turning results into action.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and keep work moving across teams.
  • Hands-on experience with tools similar to Wrike, Salesforce, Attentive, and marketing automation tools. Experience with Yinzcam is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with CDPs and event-based data models.
  • Ability to read campaign data, build and own performance dashboards in partnership with marketing analytics, and apply what you learn to future strategy.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS for troubleshooting and editing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong messaging instincts, and the ability to explain data and strategy to non-technical colleagues.
  • Confidence to form your own opinions, provide candid feedback when needed, and work without step-by-step direction.
