About the Role:

The Manager, MarTech Architecture & Engineering is a senior technical leader responsible for architecture stewardship, engineering people leadership, and strategic technology partnership across the MarTech ecosystem. Reporting to the Sr Director, MarTech, this role helps translate business strategy and product priorities into scalable, secure, and sustainable technology approaches, develops senior engineering talent, and promotes architectural coherence across Marketing Automation, Customer Data Platforms, Web, Analytics, CRM, customer engagement, and integration technologies. This is a player-coach role for a technically credible leader who can partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to shape complex initiatives, guide architecture and technology decisions, and selectively engage in design reviews, prototypes, and complex troubleshooting. The Manager will lead a team of engineers and technical specialists while influencing engineering practices across a broader, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical leadership across the MarTech ecosystem, helping translate business strategy and product priorities into scalable, secure, and sustainable technology approaches.
  • Define and promote MarTech reference architectures, integration patterns, technical standards, and reusable guardrails, and facilitate architecture and design reviews for complex, high-impact, and cross-platform initiatives by clearly communicating technical options, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of senior engineers and technical specialists through performance management, career development, succession planning, recruiting, and talent development.
  • Partner with engineering leads across MarTech to strengthen engineering practices, technical capabilities, knowledge sharing, and consistent application of architecture patterns and standards.
  • Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders during discovery and initiative shaping to assess feasibility, clarify technical implications, identify dependencies, and improve solution readiness before delivery commitments are made.
  • Maintain hands-on technical credibility through selective participation in solution design, architecture and code reviews, prototypes, proofs-of-concept, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Identify material technical risks, cross-platform dependencies, engineering constraints, technical debt, and sustainability concerns, and recommend appropriate actions or escalation.
  • Shape technical platform roadmaps and modernization recommendations in partnership with Product, engineering, platform specialists, and MarTech leadership.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working across multiple MarTech capabilities such as Marketing Automation, Customer Data Platforms, CRM, Analytics, Web/content technologies, integration platforms, or Customer Engagement Platforms.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, solution architecture, platform engineering, systems integration, marketing technology, or related technical disciplines.
  • 3+ years of formal engineering or technical people-management experience, including coaching, performance management, career development, and hiring.
  • Strong expertise in enterprise application architecture, integration patterns, APIs, data-driven or event-driven integrations, cloud technologies, and secure solution design, with experience facilitating architecture and design reviews, applying technical standards and guardrails, and guiding technical decisions across complex or cross-platform initiatives.
  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous business objectives into technical approaches, architecture options, recommendations, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs while partnering effectively with Product and business stakeholders. Strong facilitation, written communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a player-coach, maintaining sufficient technical depth to engage credibly in solution design, engineering reviews, prototypes, and complex technical problem-solving while leading engineers.
  • Experience working in a large-scale enterprise MarTech environment with multiple integrated SaaS platforms, data sources, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with one or more technologies relevant to the MarTech ecosystem, such as Oracle Eloqua, Salesforce, MuleSoft, Marmind/Wrike, Adobe Analytics, Sitecore, WordPress, or Customer Data Platforms.
  • Experience evaluating, adopting, or enabling AI-powered capabilities within marketing, engineering, or enterprise technology environments, with the ability to identify practical use cases and champion responsible adoption across teams.
  • Experience leading or advising on platform modernization, technology rationalization, cloud adoption, integration modernization, or digital-transformation initiatives.
  • Experience working in highly regulated, complex, federated, or matrixed organizations where technology decisions require coordination across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security, Data, and business stakeholders.
