AV, IT and Automation Design and Documentation Specialist

Harvey Norman Commercial Smart Technologies Stapylton is looking for an AV, IT and Automation Design and Documentation Specialist to join our Queensland team, based at our Burnside Road office in Stapylton. Drafting and technical documentation are the core of this role, alongside hands-on design and pre-sales engineering support for our internal teams.

You'll produce systems drawings, signal flow diagrams, equipment elevations, rack and cabinet layouts, and construction documentation for audio visual, automation, lighting, security and access control projects. You'll research products, build equipment specifications, contribute to bid and review sets, and help turn project briefs into workable, buildable designs. You'll also maintain our product catalogue and keep pricing current in our quoting platform, along with associated admin duties.

Some in-office administration and programming may form part of the role depending on your strengths, across platforms including Control4, Savant, RTI, KNX, Crestron and ABB free@home. Security system and access control knowledge is a plus, as is familiarity with IP intercom systems.

You'll sit within the sales and design team, sub-project managing documentation for larger jobs under guidance from project managers, and keeping field staff and PMs across design changes and clarifications as projects evolve.

We're after either an experienced technician ready for a change into design and documentation, or a junior to mid-level person with solid drafting fundamentals and a hunger to grow into solutions work. Diligent, team-oriented, and able to communicate clearly between project managers, sales and field staff. Proficient in Visio, Bluebeam, AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office suite.
