We are a diverse team of innovative hoteliers and restauranteurs operating more than 200 locations across 38 states and 3 countries. The Senior Vice President, Technology leads the operational backbone of Schulte Hospitality Group's technology organization across a portfolio of approximately 250 hotels. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working as a peer to the Chief Information Officer, this leader owns three of SHG's technology delivery pillars: IT Operations & Security, Property Technology, and Data & Analytics. The role arrives at a moment of significant change, as SHG deploys a new corporate platform spanning ERP, planning, procure-to-pay, HRIS, payroll, and business intelligence.
The ideal candidate brings the discipline to run technology as a well-managed business: clear ownership, sound budgets, measurable service levels, and accountable vendors. This role is built for someone who can build and lead a team, establish the governance and data foundation the enterprise depends on, and partner with the CIO on strategic direction and the IT roadmap. The SVP holds staffing and budget accountability for the technology organization and serves as the CFO's primary partner on finance-facing technology, including payments and spend-management infrastructure.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Own the technology budget and spend baseline, quantifying corporate IT costs and IT contracts charged to hotel P&Ls by category.
- Lead staffing decisions for the technology organization, including hiring, talent assessment, and the build-out of the team.
- Partner with the CIO on strategic direction, technology governance, the IT roadmap, and enterprise application priorities.
- Evaluate outsourcing and co-sourcing options pillar by pillar, selecting the model that best balances cost, coverage, and service quality.
- Establish program and project management discipline for the portfolio of concurrent system deployments, laying the groundwork for a future PMO.
- Own SHG's corporate infrastructure, including the Microsoft 365 environment and Azure, and drive full value from existing investments such as SharePoint and Teams.
- Lead the cybersecurity program and ensure PCI compliance across the enterprise.
- Manage licensing, cloud, and hardware costs with clear visibility into spend and utilization.
- Establish AI operations and governance standards, partnering with the CIO on AI applications across the business.
- Optimize help desk operations with defined service levels, ticketing discipline, and clear escalation paths.
- Lead and develop the Vice President of Property Technology, who holds day-to-day accountability for property-level technology across the portfolio.
- Set priorities, service expectations, and resourcing for the Property Technology pillar, and hold its leader accountable for results.
- Ensure the field support model, PIP technology oversight, brand technology compliance, and independent-hotel technology selection are clearly defined and well executed.
- Align Property Technology with enterprise infrastructure, security, data, and budget standards, and resolve cross-pillar issues and escalations.
- Own SHG's enterprise data strategy, including data governance, quality standards, and the analytics roadmap.
- Lead the Microsoft Fabric architecture, including lakehouse design, data pipelines, and Power BI delivery.
- Establish a single set of data definitions and a KPI reporting framework trusted by operations, finance, and ownership groups.
- Ensure reliable data connectors between ProfitSword, Business Central, Workiva, Dayforce, and other enterprise systems.
- Partner with Treasury and Property Accounting to standardize payment gateway and acquirer relationships across the portfolio, acting as agent for hotel owners.
- Ensure merchant IDs, merchant-of-record structures, and settlement accounts are configured so funds land in the correct owner operating accounts.
- Deliver visibility into card volume, effective processing rates, chargebacks, and fees by property, and identify interchange optimization opportunities such as tokenization and timely capture.
- Support evaluation and governance of spend-management and outbound payment platforms, ensuring they preserve the correct owner-manager cash relationship.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including at least 5 years leading multi-disciplinary teams and budgets.
- Experience in hospitality, hotel management, or another multi-site, multi-entity operating environment strongly preferred.
- Track record of leading large-scale system implementations, data platform builds, or IT operating model transformations.
- Deep familiarity with the Microsoft ecosystem, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI.
- Working knowledge of ERP environments, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and hotel systems such as ProfitSword, PMS, and POS platforms.
- Strong grounding in cybersecurity frameworks, PCI DSS compliance, and infrastructure management.
- Experience with data architecture, governance, and analytics programs at enterprise scale.
- Understanding of card payment flows, including gateways, acquirers, merchant structures, and settlement reconciliation.
- Financial acumen sufficient to build, defend, and manage a technology budget alongside the CFO.
- Vendor management and contract negotiation across software, services, and payments providers.
- Clear, concise communication with executives, hotel teams, and ownership groups.
- Sound judgment in prioritizing competing initiatives during periods of rapid change.
- Discretion in handling confidential owner, financial, and employee information.
