Harrison County Hospital is seeking to hire a full-time RN Float Nurse for the ICU/ER department.

This position is full-time, nights, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 36 hours per week.

Under the supervision of the department of nursing, this position as a licensed registered nurse bears responsibility and accountability for the nursing care patients receive within the realms of standards of nursing practice, nurse's code of ethics and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Inherent in the practice is the nursing process; the assessment of the patient status, the plan of nursing actions, the implementation of that plan, and the evaluation of the plan. The Float RN must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to provide age-specific needs and to provide the care as described in nursing policies and procedures.

The ED/ICU Float Nurse provides nursing care to a wide variety of patients within Harrison County Hospital's Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The ED/ICU Float Nurse will be housed within the Emergency Department as their primary/home department; however, ICU staffing needs will take priority when additional nursing coverage is required in the ICU.

During each shift, the Registered Nurse – ED/ICU Float will work as a member of the nursing team and provide direct patient care based on patient census, acuity, staffing needs, and operational requirements. The nurse may begin a shift in the ED and be reassigned to the ICU when needed to maintain appropriate ICU staffing and support safe patient care.

The ED/ICU Float Nurse may also be assigned to either department for an extended period to assist with staffing vacancies, employee absences, vacations, leaves of absence, or other operational needs. Assignments will be made based on patient care needs and the nurse's demonstrated competency, training, and qualifications for the assigned clinical area.
