POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Analyst serves as a critical bridge between business operations and IT solutions within Miller Zell's Information Technology organization. Reporting to the Director of Delivery, this role is engaged across the full lifecycle of technology initiatives — from initial problem definition through implementation and continuous post-launch improvement. The Business Analyst partners with internal stakeholders across design, print, manufacturing and warehouse operations to elicit, analyze and document requirements; works alongside the Product team on externally influenced initiatives; and collaborates with vendors and technical teams to shape and drive end-to-end solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical fluency, deep familiarity with operational business processes and the ability to align cross-functional teams around a shared understanding of scope and intent.

POSITION COMPETENCIES: Responsibilities associated with each position are a combination of organization-wide and department-specific standards. Competencies are evaluated initially during each employee's Introductory Period using the onboarding plan and manager observations. Thereafter, competencies are assessed on an ongoing basis and formally documented annually using the Annual Performance Appraisal Form.

ORGANIZATIONAL RANKING:

Reports To: Director of Delivery

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Every effort has been made to make this job description as complete as possible. However, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties the incumbent will be required to perform. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment to the position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Requirements Analysis and Documentation

· Elicit, analyze, validate and document business requirements, functional specifications, user stories and process flows for internal operational initiatives.

· Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements consumable by development, integration and vendor teams.

· Define and manage acceptance criteria to ensure delivered solutions align with documented business intent.

· Maintain organized requirements repositories and traceability matrices throughout the full project lifecycle.

· Identify and resolve gaps, conflicts and dependencies across systems, stakeholders and project teams.

Process Analysis and Optimization

· Analyze current-state business processes across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, warehouse management and manufacturing workflows to identify inefficiencies, automation opportunities and integration gaps.

· Map end-to-end process flows — from order intake through fulfillment, invoicing and vendor payment — and recommend future-state improvements.

· Partner with operations teams to evaluate and prioritize process improvement initiatives that reduce cycle time, minimize errors and improve data quality.

· Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures, workflow diagrams and business rules resulting from system or process changes.

Solution Design and Technical Engagement

· Collaborate with IT architects, developers and integration specialists to evaluate solution options and assess technical feasibility.

· Demonstrate sufficient technical fluency to engage meaningfully with engineering and architecture teams — able to interpret data models, system architecture diagrams and API/interface integration designs without writing code or SQL.

· Engage with ERP (JD Edwards preferred), warehouse management systems and other enterprise platforms to understand capabilities, limitations and integration touch points.

· Support the definition of integration requirements between enterprise applications, operational systems and automation platforms.

· Review and provide input on technical designs, data mappings and test plans to confirm alignment with business requirements.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication

· Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal stakeholders across IT, operations, finance and warehouse functions.

· Coordinate with the Product team on initiatives with externally facing customer implications, ensuring internal operational requirements are clearly represented.

· Engage with third-party vendors and implementation partners to gather solution options, validate capabilities and support scope or contract discussions.

· Facilitate requirements workshops, process review sessions and stakeholder alignment meetings; document decisions, action items and open issues.

· Communicate project status, requirements changes and emerging risks clearly to the Director of Delivery and relevant stakeholders.

Project and Delivery Support

· Support Delivery-led project execution by maintaining requirements traceability, facilitating issue resolution and serving as a consistent subject-matter resource throughout the development lifecycle.

· Assist in defining and executing user acceptance testing (UAT) plans; coordinate business stakeholder participation in testing and sign-off activities.

· Support change management activities including stakeholder communication, training coordination and post-go-live stabilization.

· Monitor post-implementation performance against defined success criteria and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.

· Maintain awareness of project timelines, milestones and dependencies; proactively surface risks or scope concerns to the project team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

· Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, computer science, operations management or a related field from an accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

Knowledge and Experience

· 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a demonstrated ability to lead requirements discovery and drive technology solutions in a complex business environment.

· Experience working within or in close support of operational environments such as manufacturing, print production, supply chain, warehousing or order fulfillment strongly preferred.

· Strong understanding of order-to-cash and procure-to-pay business processes and the enterprise systems that support them.

· ERP experience required; JD Edwards (JDE) knowledge strongly preferred.

· Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and operational workflow or automation platforms.

· Proficiency in requirements documentation methodologies: user stories, use cases, process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams and RACI matrices.

· Demonstrated experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and driving alignment across cross-functional teams.

· Technical fluency sufficient to engage meaningfully with developers, architects and integration teams — able to interpret system architecture, review data models and assess API integration requirements.

· Working knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall or hybrid) and delivery frameworks.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Jira, Confluence, Lucidchart, Visio or equivalent tools.

· Exposure to reporting and analytics platforms (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.

Personal Attributes

· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to decompose complex operational problems into clear, actionable requirements.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective in presenting to both technical teams and business leadership.

· Collaborative team player who builds trust across diverse functional groups including IT, operations, finance and third-party vendors.

· Demonstrates accountability by owning deliverables from discovery through post-implementation in ambiguous or evolving project environments.

· High integrity; handles sensitive business and system information with discretion.

· Adaptable and self-directed; manages competing priorities and shifts focus as business needs evolve.

· Curiosity and passion for understanding how operational systems and end-to-end business processes work.

· Commitment to excellence; takes pride in the quality and accuracy of documentation, analysis and stakeholder communication.

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent must manage stress appropriately; make decisions under pressure; handle multiple priorities; and work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The incumbent will work primarily in a standard indoor office environment. This is a hybrid role requiring three days onsite per week at the Atlanta, Georgia, office location.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: SEDENTARY WORK: This position is primarily desk-based and involves extended use of a computer. Occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods. This position requires repetitive hand and arm coordination, finger dexterity and visual acuity both far and near.
