The position is located in New Bern at the Craven County NCWorks Career Center, which focuses on providing employment-related services to veterans. This unit aims to support veterans in overcoming Qualified Employment Barriers as listed in VPL (Veterans Program Letter) 05-24 and achieving sustainable job placements.

The work primarily involves outreach activities through veterans and civic organizations to locate members of the target group. It includes the development of appropriate employment and training opportunities and promotion of the hiring of disabled and other veterans. The work involves case managing and providing intensive career services to veterans. It will assist veterans in overcoming barriers to employment by delivering appropriate services, identifying necessary training and supportive services, and providing ongoing support during and after job placements. The position will conduct outreach to locate veterans in the community, strengthen awareness of available services, and engage in targeted networking efforts to Soup kitchens, Shelters, Libraries, Street Corners, Churches, VA clinics and Hospitals, Veterans Service Organizations, Law Enforcement Agencies and other service providers in the community. It will conduct targeted outreach to employers, facilitate job search workshops, and establish job search groups to assist veterans in gaining employment. The position will coordinate with the LVER and business services team to facilitate employment opportunities for veterans. It will train other workforce staff on the roles and responsibilities of the veteran’s staff and priority of service for veterans in the workforce system. This position is supervised by the DWS Manager in New Bern.
