Safety Training Manager - West Region

The Safety Training Manager is responsible for ensuring all operational personnel are trained to company standards. This position in partnership with management and Human Resources works to promote the well-being of the organization and the people in it by promoting a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship in compliance with applicable company policies and procedures encompassing federal, state, local rules and regulations.Hiring Range: $92,700 to $121,700 per year

• →Provides initial (Day One) safety training to all new employees, and changes in lines of business.
• →Provides initial safe driving training to new employees with CDL's including systems, DOT regulations, Casella policies and procedures.
• →Trains and certifies all Mentors in the region.
• →Partners with the region Safety and HR managers to review the effectiveness of Mentors.
• →Trains and system certifies all region supervisors and operations managers.
• →Partners with region safety manager to review the effectiveness of remedial training for high-risk employees and oversees post-accident retraining.
• →Provides on-going training and feedback to supervisors to improve their observations and driving skills.
• →Reviews OBC Video to identify training/coaching opportunities.
• →Promotes continuous improvement and standardization of existing health and safety programs, procedures, and tools to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Casella best practices.
• →Provides professional driving expertise and guidance to safety and operational teams.
• →Consistently seeks to improve the safety culture of both management and employees by ensuring safety is a consideration in everything we do.
• →Acts as a liaison between drivers and management to ensure open lines of communication.

• →Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
• →Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Casella.
• →Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the manager.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, 5-7 years of safety management experience with a focus on OSHA and FMCSA regulations, 3-5 years as a training facilitator, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and be legally eligible to work in the US. An interest in an environmental and/or sustainability field is preferred and the ability to pass pre-employment testing is necessary. The physical ability to handle objects 50-75 lbs. frequently, walk, stand, climb and work under many different weather conditions are needed. This position requires up to 60% travel regionally and nationally. 

Excellent communication and problem solving skills, an ability to develop, implement and train employees in safe workplace practices, and a strong commitment to workplace safety are required. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, online research skills, and a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment are expected.
