About the role: 

Reporting to the Neurology Consultant, this role provides nursing and/or midwifery services in a variety of health service settings which has been consolidated by experience and/or further study.

Duties for the role will include:

• Coordinating and delivering day-to-day clinical research activities within the SALHN Neurology Department, under the direction of the Principal Investigator and designated research leadership.
• Participant identification, screening, recruitment, coordination of informed consent processes, protocol-specific clinical assessments, study visits, longitudinal follow-up, research documentation and data management.
• Contributing to ethics and governance submissions, supports the collection and coordination of research biospecimens where required, and ensures that delegated research activities are undertaken in accordance with approved protocols, relevant regulatory requirements, Good Clinical Practice principles and SALHN policies.
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams to support safe, ethical and high-quality research.

About you:

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
• Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience with experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
• Demonstrated competence in Neurology nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
• Knowledge of Quality Improvement Systems as applied to a healthcare setting.
• Awareness of person and family centred care principles and consumer engagement principles and procedures.
