Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world’s largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads, including AI, Colocation, Cloud, and Bitcoin Mining. We are proud to offer interesting and challenging opportunities for individuals who want to build teams, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. If you’re an ambitious individual looking for a career that is as rewarding as it is challenging, you’ve come to the right place.

About the Role

~2 min read

Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, the Internal Audit Analyst supports SOX 404(b) assurance and external attestation readiness across Hut 8, American Bitcoin (ABTC), and Highrise — a broad, multi-entity control environment. This is a hands-on execution role with real technical range: you will test business process and IT general controls across Bitcoin mining, HPC / GPU-as-a-Service, digital asset custody, and derivatives operations, and support the ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 attestation programs our data center customers require.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

  • Execute SOX 404 testing — walkthroughs, control design assessments, and operating effectiveness testing — across business process and IT general controls (ITGCs) at Hut 8, ABTC, and Highrise, documenting workpapers to external audit standards under senior review
  • Support testing of IT-dependent, cyber, and automated controls across an application landscape anchored on NetSuite, and assist in evaluating SOC reports for key vendors
  • Support evidence collection, control operation, and readiness activities for the ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 attestation programs required by data center and GPU-as-a-Service customers
  • Track remediation of control deficiencies — follow up with process owners on corrective action plans, validate closure, and keep issue status current for reporting
  • Use AI-enabled audit workflows (documentation, flowcharting, testing support) while ensuring evidence integrity
  • Assist in executing the annual risk-based audit plan; support internal audits across financial, operational, compliance, and IT processes and contribute to clear, well-supported reports
  • Coordinate evidence requests and support KPMG during quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement audit
  • Support special investigations and ad hoc projects requested by senior leadership or the Audit Committee
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of audit, SOX, or internal controls experience, ideally at a publicly traded company or public accounting firm; strong internship experience considered
  • Working knowledge of SOX, COSO, and internal control frameworks; exposure to IT general controls a plus
  • Progress toward CPA, CIA, or CISA certification strongly preferred
  • Genuine interest in IT systems and cyber controls — eager to build technical depth in a crypto, HPC, and data center environment rather than a purely financial track
  • Strong analytical skills with relentless attention to detail; documents testing clearly, completely, and to standard
  • Coachable, organized, and self-directed — manages assigned testing and deadlines, pushes through ambiguity, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; high integrity, professional skepticism, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information
  • Proficient in Excel; exposure to audit/GRC tools (e.g., AuditBoard, Workiva, ACL) a plus
  • Data analytics skills (SQL, Power BI, or Tableau) a plus
