PBX Operator - Communications

  Schedule: Per Diem | Varied Shifts Department: Communications Location: Desert Valley Hospital | Victorville, CA Compensation: $23.00 per hour

Join Desert Valley Hospital as a PBX Operator – Communications and help create a welcoming, responsive experience for patients, visitors, and staff. This role supports hospital-wide communication by managing incoming calls, overhead paging, visitor assistance, and emergency communications.

• →Answer and route incoming calls through the hospital switchboard.
• →Manage overhead paging and hospital communications.
• →Greet and direct patients, visitors, and guests.
• →Monitor hospital alarms and follow emergency code procedures.
• →Provide professional, responsive customer service while managing multiple priorities.

The PBX Operator / Receptionist is responsible for answering the switchboard and pages overhead, greets and directs people to the appropriate departments. The PBX operator monitors the Hospital alarms and must be aware of the policy and procedures of all hospital emergency codes. Ability to communicate with population served.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous office or receptionist experience.
• PBX and customer service experience preferred.
• Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
• Spanish-speaking candidates are highly preferred.

Education and Work Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).

Previous PBX experience preferred.

Previous experience in office or receptionist.

Effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Customer Services experience preferred.

Desert Valley Hospital offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $23.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
