The Virtual Technical Assessment Team Analyst will support critical modernization initiatives for U.S. Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, helping ensure the technical integrity and operational readiness of complex shipboard systems. This role focuses on reviewing ship change documentation, evaluating technical data packages, and coordinating assessments across multiple engineering and maintenance organizations. You will collaborate with technical authorities, shipyards, program managers, and Navy stakeholders to resolve technical issues and facilitate informed decisions. Your expertise will contribute to the modernization of Nimitz- and Ford-class aircraft carriers, supporting systems ranging from navigation and communications to combat control and integrated networks. Working remotely within a mission-driven defense environment, you will help streamline technical reviews, improve documentation processes, and maintain visibility into project status. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with Navy vessel experience who wants to contribute to national security and complex engineering programs.

  • Technical Assessment Coordination: Coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlt) requests and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews related to Ship Change Documents (SCDs).

  • Ship Modernization Support: Assist the Virtual Technical Assessment Team Lead in reviewing and managing SCDs for Nimitz-class and Ford-class aircraft carriers, ensuring documentation and assessments support modernization requirements.

  • Task and Priority Management: Keep the team lead informed of current assignments, workload changes, and emerging priorities. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, streamline review processes, and reduce documentation backlogs.

  • Status Reporting: Prepare weekly SCD status reports for the team lead and support reporting to the Project Manager for Modernization ahead of scheduled VTAT meetings. Provide status updates and coordination support when the team lead is unavailable.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with engineering agents, technical authorities, Type Commanders (TYCOM), program management offices, shipbuilding supervisors, naval shipyards, ship repair facilities, and other stakeholders to address technical questions and resolve outstanding issues.

  • Technical Documentation Review: Examine technical data packages, engineering drawings, reports, logistics documentation, training materials, and related deliverables to assess their completeness, accuracy, and alignment with program requirements.

  • Technical Recommendations: Evaluate proposed ship changes and supporting documentation, identify potential concerns, and provide recommendations that facilitate technical approvals and sound modernization decisions.

  • Executive Briefings: Develop clear, professional presentations and brief senior officials on technical assessments, documentation status, outstanding issues, and recommended actions.

  • Process Improvement: Contribute to more effective review and coordination practices by identifying recurring challenges, improving communication, and supporting timely completion of technical assessments.
