This is a permanent part-time opportunity based on a hybrid working schedule (in-office every Tuesday and Thursday, plus alternate Wednesdays, with the remaining days work-from-home). The role offers excellent flexibility regarding daily hours, with the option to structure your 20 hours across either 4 days (5 hours/day) or 5 days (4 hours/day). Reporting directly to the CEO, this role goes beyond routine transactional processing—we are looking for a reliable, methodical financial professional with proven experience taking complete end-to-end ownership of financial administration and controls for a small business. Key Roles & Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting Prepare, reconcile, and collate monthly management accounts, including Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and Aged Receivables/Payables. Prepare and collate structured financial packs and reports for board meetings. Monitor, investigate, and report on internal control weaknesses and deviations. Accounts Receivable & Payable Process customer transactions, generate invoices and monthly statements, reconcile accounts, and manage outstanding debtors. Process supplier invoices, create purchase orders, load supplier payments, and reconcile supplier statements. Negotiate supplier terms and payment schedules where applicable, maintaining meticulous payment records. Perform regular bank account reconciliations. Cash Management & Budgeting Monitor and report weekly cash balances and oversee daily/weekly cash flow. Prepare forecasts of cash receipts, disbursements, income, and expenditure. Draft and review annual/operational budgets; analyse, review, and report on budget deviations. Payroll Submissions & Business Taxes Process employee remuneration-related journals and review/verify monthly sales commission calculations and claims. Assist in submitting monthly employee payroll details to the outsourced payroll service provider; verify payroll reports and ensure statutory returns (PAYE, UIF, SDL) are submitted. Complete monthly provident fund submissions via the Liberty platform and assist with leave tracking and records. Complete and submit bi-monthly VAT returns (VAT201) and assist with collating documentation for income tax and provisional tax submissions. Be open to assisting with broader administrative compliance tasks when required (such as OHS audits). Requirements Experience: Minimum 5 years of full-function bookkeeping experience, with a proven track record of independently managing the complete finance and administrative function of a small business. System Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency in Xero accounting software is essential, alongside strong MS Office skills (Word, intermediate/advanced Excel). Experience submitting on the Liberty provident fund portal is advantageous. Compliance Checks: As this is a position of financial trust, a clear criminal record and healthy credit profile are strict prerequisites. Qualifications: An appropriate qualification in Bookkeeping or Accounting (Diploma, Degree, or NQF Level 3/4 National Certificate in Bookkeeping). Sector Exposure (Advantageous): Previous exposure to dealing with the books and administration of an accredited Skills Development Provider (SDP) or training company is a bonus, though not mandatory. Personal Attributes: Meticulous attention to detail, deadline-driven, strong time management, and proactive communication skills. Able to work independently with zero hand-holding while integrating seamlessly with the team. Benefits Permanent part-time role offering work-life balance (20 hours/week). Hybrid work schedule with daily hour flexibility. Supportive, collaborative team culture within an accredited educational institution. Compulsory Provident Fund (after successful completion of a 3-month probation period)
