Warren Wilson College welcomes applicants for a faculty position in Literature and/or Media and Communications. This is an Assistant Professor position in an extended contract system with a 24 credit teaching load (typically a 3-3 class load) beginning in August of 2027. On Warren Wilson's extended contract system, after an initial 3 year period of annual reviews, faculty receive extended-term contracts that provide for continuing appointment, and are linked to academic rank review and promotion.

The Public Humanities Department is an interdisciplinary learning community, preparing students with transferable skills more critical than ever. Within the Department, this position will serve two closely aligned majors: 1) Media and Communications and 2) Literature. It will also provide leadership for the College’s writing requirement in general education and the Writing Center “Crew,” with appropriate workload adjustment. These majors focus on strong written and oral communication, argument, close reading, problem solving, big questions, diverse voices, critical thinking, and public facing work. Faculty in the two majors work closely together, allowing students to count credits toward the major from both disciplines. Both majors also include courses in other departments and collaborate deeply with other humanities subjects, in particular. There are opportunities for internships and community engagement in both majors. Faculty in the department extend the classroom and campus through close connections with community partners.
