Mission — Why We Need You
Financial institutions run on documents — loan files, account-opening packets, compliance records, and the endless stream of paper and PDFs moving through every branch and back office. When that work is slow, manual, or error-prone, everything downstream slows with it: decisions, onboarding, audits, the customer experience. Encapture exists to make it fast, accurate, and automated. As Head of Product, Document Processing, you'll own the product strategy for our intelligent document processing platform at a defining moment: we're evolving Encapture from a lending-anchored tool into a horizontal IDP platform for document workflows across the institution. That shift is the opportunity — and it needs a product leader who can find where we win, sharpen our focus, and turn early traction into a durable, scalable product line.
At Continuous, we make complex simple for financial institutions — and this role does the same for the document work at the heart of their operations. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you'll set the strategy, roadmap, and product-market-fit agenda for Encapture across the front- and back-office workflows banks and credit unions depend on. You'll be the person who decides — with evidence, not instinct — which document workflows Encapture wins first, how we prove repeatable value, and how the platform grows from promising to indispensable.
Objectives — The Problems You'll Solve
As Head of Product for Encapture, you report to the Chief Product Officer and serve as the central product voice for our intelligent document processing platform — the system that captures, classifies, extracts, and validates data from the documents financial institutions handle every day and routes it into the systems where the work happens. Your mandate is to define what Encapture is for, who it serves first, and how it grows from a set of promising wins into a scalable product line. You own:
- Product strategy and roadmap — Encapture's direction as a horizontal IDP platform, translating a fragmented set of institutional document workflows into a coherent product story internal teams can execute and customers can trust.
- Product-market fit — the evidence base for where Encapture delivers repeatable value versus where success still depends on workarounds or heavy services, and the signals the company uses to measure fit.
- Competitive positioning — how Encapture stands against the alternatives institutions weigh: manual review and data entry, generic OCR and horizontal IDP tools, point solutions bundled into core/LOS systems, and BPO or consulting arrangements.
- Cross-functional alignment — the connective tissue between Product, Engineering, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Implementation, keeping every team aligned on who the product is for and what outcomes it commits to.
- Commercial alignment — the partnership with Revenue leadership that ensures product capabilities and pipeline assumptions reflect what Encapture can actually deliver today and where it's credibly headed.
How You'll Get There
First 45 Days: Establish a Clear Point of View on the Document-Processing Market and Where We Can Win:
- Build a sharp, evidence-based understanding of the document-processing landscape across financial institutions, the workflows and institutions Encapture serves best today, and where the strongest early signals exist.
- Clarify the document workflows where Encapture has the most natural fit — by institution size, document type, workflow maturity, and operational pain points.
- Evaluate early customer usage to identify which workflows deliver real value and which rely on workarounds or heavy services.
- Review deal histories, renewals, and stalled opportunities to understand true buying triggers, hesitation points, and perceived gaps.
- Build a concise, data-backed point of view on where Encapture's traction is credible and where it remains unproven.
- Identify the 2–3 document workflows most likely to anchor early product-market fit.
First 90 Days: Define the Product Strategy in a Way That Scales Beyond Individual Deals:
- Turn early traction into a strategy that internal teams can understand and execute consistently.
- Create the first version of the Encapture strategy narrative: who the platform is for, which document workflows we focus on first, and what outcomes we commit to delivering.
- Establish simple product-market-fit indicators (adoption moments, activation patterns, renewal signals) and socialize them across Product, CS, and Sales.
- Position Encapture relative to competitive alternatives (manual processing, generic OCR/IDP tools, point solutions embedded in core/LOS systems, BPO/consultants) with clarity about where we win.
- Work with Product Marketing to turn findings into practical talk tracks and discovery flows that accurately reflect how institutions actually handle documents.
- Align teams on what we are not pursuing yet to protect focus and prevent dilution of early wins.
First 180 Days: Create Repeatable Value Delivery for the First Credible ICP:
- Prove that we can consistently deliver value to a defined institutional segment — not as isolated wins, but as repeatable outcomes.
- Shape the roadmap around the document workflows that matter most to the chosen ICP; reduce distractions from adjacent, unvalidated requests.
- Identify and close the most painful early gaps — missing workflow steps, extraction/validation accuracy, data handoff inconsistencies, configuration friction, or integration dependencies.
- With CS and Implementation, define and test the “first 90 days of value” plan for Encapture accounts, iterating as needed.
- Capture evidence from early implementations: time to value, iteration cycles, customer satisfaction, and referenceability.
- Ensure the product experience clearly communicates workflow value, exceptions, data movement, and outcomes.
First 360 Days: Turn a Promising Product Into a Scalable Product Line:
- Set the trajectory for Encapture to become a durable growth engine.
- Show credible movement across product-market-fit signals: repeatable wins in a defined ICP, stronger renewal health, more consistent usage patterns, and fewer surprises in deals.
- Maintain a forward-looking roadmap that deepens workflow quality where we have traction and cautiously expands into adjacent workflows where customers are already pulling us.
- Partner with Revenue leadership to align product capabilities with realistic commercial expectations and ensure pipeline assumptions reflect what the product can actually deliver.
- Validate a small number of expansion opportunities (adjacent document workflows or new institutional segments) based on real customer demand.
- Become the central voice for Encapture — clear on what it's for, why we focus where we do, and how the product will evolve to reinforce early signals.
Strategic Thinking — Understands how financial institutions manage document-heavy workflows, risk, and compliance, and turns that insight into a sequenced strategy for building product-market fit.
Analytical Mindset — Differentiates real traction from noise using customer behavior, adoption patterns, and deal signals; builds simple, honest measures to track product-market-fit progress.
Customer Understanding — Engages deeply with banks and credit unions to uncover true operational needs — how documents actually move through the institution — and turns those needs into meaningful product decisions.
Leadership — Leads through influence, not authority. Earns trust across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success by being clear and evidence-driven, and directs work and keeps cross-functional teams aligned on what matters most — without relying on formal reporting lines.
Follow-Through — Turns strategy into deliberate workflow depth and reliable delivery, shaping early implementations that confirm or challenge the plan.
Clear Communication — Explains the Encapture strategy in plain language that customers, internal teams, and executives understand, keeping reasoning visible and consistent.
Commercial Instinct — Connects product decisions to how the business actually grows; aligns capabilities, positioning, and roadmap with realistic revenue and pipeline expectations.
You bring experience in:
- Product management, including leading product strategy for a B2B SaaS or platform product — ideally in fintech, financial services, or another document-heavy, workflow-driven domain.
- You've taken products from early traction to repeatable product-market fit, and you know the difference between a handful of wins and a scalable business.
- You're fluent in product analytics and evidence-based decisions, comfortable partnering with Engineering, Revenue, and Customer Success, and energized by the ambiguity of defining focus in a market still taking shape.
- Experience with intelligent document processing or selling into banks and credit unions is a strong plus.
- You've turned a promising product into something customers depend on — because you've done it before.
