About the Role

~4 min read

As Financial Controller for Germany, you will take full ownership of financial control, statutory reporting, and financial close for all German legal entities. You will act as the trusted technical accounting expert for the country, protecting the integrity of our financial statements and maintaining strong controls. Operating with clear autonomy, you will ensure our accounting meets Group Accounting Policies, IFRS, and local statutory standards.

You will partner closely with colleagues across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Technology to guide commercial decisions and oversee accurate reporting across revenue, inventory, fixed assets, and costs. The Finance team is central to our business health, translating daily operational decisions into reliable numbers that help Storio group grow sustainably. Your work will directly support strategic investments and ensure our leadership teams have total clarity on our financial performance in Germany.

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close for German entities, preparing and submitting accurate financial statements under IFRS and Group guidelines.

  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and deferred revenue schedules to prevent period leakage.

  • Own inventory valuation and accounting, collaborating with Supply Chain to manage cycle counts, review costing, and establish correct reserves.

  • Manage the Fixed Asset Register, overseeing capitalization assessments with project teams, depreciation schedules, periodic audits, and impairment reviews.

  • Guide the Accounting Service Centre on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable workflows to maintain high reporting standards and resolve process bottlenecks.

  • Prepare weekly cash flow reporting for Treasury and review monthly financial variances alongside FP&A to support forecasts and operational planning.

  • Champion the financial integrity of German entities by acting as the definitive interpreter of accounting policy for local statutory, tax, and GAAP questions.

  • Lead the annual German statutory audit, serving as the lead contact for external auditors to ensure clean, timely sign-offs without open findings.

  • Identify financial risks across a forward-looking six-month window and present logical updates to regional accounting procedures.

  • Redesign and automate the German month-end close by converting manual steps into streamlined Oracle workflows within our central reporting framework.

  • Partner with cross-functional leads in Marketing, Technology, and Operations to deliver sound technical accounting guidance on complex commercial transactions.

  • Elevate internal control environments across the region by continually hunting down process inefficiencies and implementing automated fixes.

  • Extensive progressive accounting experience, ideally starting in a major audit practice and advancing through a multinational corporate environment.

  • Deep practical knowledge of IFRS, local statutory standards, and the mechanics of balance sheet control.

  • Advanced technical fluency in Microsoft Excel, including complex modelling, lookup formulas, and pivot analysis.

  • Hands-on experience working with enterprise ERP systems, ideally Oracle Fusion.

  • Proven ability to explain technical accounting matters clearly to non-finance teams and build collaborative working relationships across functions.

  • Sharp analytical focus, a detail-oriented mindset, and the confidence to challenge figures constructively.

  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA, paired with a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Professional fluency in German.

  • A track record of leading finance transformation or automation projects within an international business.
