Senior Database Engineer - PostgreSQL, DB2, MySQL, Informix, MongoDB

We’re looking for an Experienced Database Engineer to own the reliability, performance and security of our clients’ PostgreSQL, IBM Db2, MySQL, Informix and MongoDB environments. You’ll design and run HA/DR solutions, optimize workloads, automate routine operations, and lead incident response and root-cause analysis for business-critical systems. Working in an international team, you’ll partner closely with application, Unix, storage and security teams, and help drive migration and modernization projects, including moves to containerized and cloud platforms. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys performance tuning, resilience engineering and clean automation, and who takes pride in keeping critical systems running.

• Administer, monitor and maintain PostgreSQL, DB2, MySQL, Informix and MongoDB databases in production and non-production environments.
• Resolve incidents and problems within SLA, perform root-cause analysis and prevent recurrence.
• Plan and implement changes: patching, version upgrades, migrations and database encryption.
• Design and test backup, recovery and high-availability solutions.
• Tune performance, plan capacity and manage storage for growing workloads.
• Automate routine DBA tasks and keep documentation and the CMDB up to date.
• Work with customers, application, Unix and storage teams across Europe, including planned out-of-hours activities.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA, with strong expertise in at least two of PostgreSQL, IBM DB2 LUW, MySQL/MariaDB, IBM Informix and MongoDB, and working knowledge of the others.
• Solid experience with installation, upgrades, patching, backup/restore, point-in-time recovery and performance tuning.
• Experience with high availability and replication solutions such as Patroni/streaming replication, DB2 HADR, MySQL Group Replication, Informix HDR and MongoDB replica sets.
• Strong Linux administration skills (RHEL/SUSE) and scripting in Bash, Python or Perl.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and ServiceNow, and readiness to take part in on-call duty and planned out-of-hours maintenance.
• Knowledge of Ansible, monitoring tools (e.g. Dynatrace), containers/OpenShift or cloud platforms is a plus.
• Fluent English. German is an advantage.
