About CFG
Centre for Future Generations (CFG) is an independent think-and-do tank created to help decision-makers anticipate and govern rapid technological change. We are here to make sure that powerful, emerging technologies are used in the best interests of humanity.
Our team supplies rigorous, independent, policy-oriented research and analysis that connects the dots between emerging technologies and the principles of good governance. We work across Advanced AI, Biotech, Climate Interventions and Neurotech — technologies that scale faster than regulation can keep up with, are often controlled by a handful of private or state actors outside national reach, and whose impacts are messy and easy to miss until it's too late.
We work in three ways: we anticipate emerging scenarios through foresight methods, we inform policymakers and those who influence them, and we influence by proposing concrete governance solutions.
The role
CFG’s Climate Interventions team is growing its international presence and is looking for an International Engagement Manager to build and steward relationships with other think tanks, civil society organisations, international actors and scientific institutions outside Europe. The manager will help shape and execute the programme's strategy, contribute to UN-facing engagement, and explore opportunities for cross-regional initiatives. What we need is depth of experience navigating international fora and multilateral processes, and the judgement, networks and cultural fluency to build a network of partners across regions. The Officer will help shape and execute the program’s strategy.
The ideal candidate combines diplomatic tact with curiosity and intellectual humility, and thrives in a context where scientific inquiry meets complex political and societal debate. They will strengthen CFG’s role as a bridge between research and policy in global climate governance, helping to foster constructive, evidence-based dialogues on the governance of Solar Radiation Modification (SRM). Through their work, the manager will contribute to ensuring that global conversations on SRM remain informed, attentive to questions of justice and oriented toward the long-term well-being of future generations.
We are looking for someone to join the team from February 2027. The post is fully remote, but at least 4 hours a day overlapping with CET are requested, along with the possibility to undertake regular travel to Brussels, partner locations, and relevant international meetings/conferences worldwide.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates based outside Europe and from Global Majority countries.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Climate Interventions Team's strategy.
- Lead the identification, development and end-to-end coordination of capacity-building initiatives with think tanks, civil society organisations and regional networks outside Europe, serving as a trusted point of contact.
- Support programme teams in translating partnerships into concrete collaborations, including joint initiatives, co-hosted events, stakeholder consultations and co-authored publications, and help organise public-facing dialogues that broaden global perspectives on SRM and related technologies.
- Develop and implement an outreach and capacity-building strategy that meaningfully expands Global Majority participation and amplifies underrepresented perspectives across CFG's international projects and consultations.
- Coordinate and execute engagement with the United Nations, managing logistics, representing the organisation at meetings and events, and contributing to consultations and other multilateral processes.
- Contribute high-quality research, analysis, briefings and publications that advance the work of the Climate Interventions Team.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on partnership development and engagement outcomes, while strengthening team processes, knowledge management and cross-programme collaboration.
- Travel regularly to Brussels, partner locations and relevant international meetings and conferences worldwide.
What you will need to succeed in this role
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience in international engagement, partnerships or multilateral work.
- Demonstrated, sound experience navigating international fora and multilateral processes (UN bodies and processes, international institutions, regional organisations) and engaging effectively with a diverse range of actors across different regions and cultural contexts.
- A strong, credible network across international policy, civil society and/or multilateral spaces, and the ability to build new relationships quickly and authentically.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and comfort operating in diverse political, cultural and institutional contexts.
- Excellent strategic thinking, pragmatic attitude and ability to transform ideas into action.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and compelling written content for a range of audiences
- Prior knowledge of SRM and climate interventions is welcome but not required. We welcome candidates with expertise from climate and other relevant fields who can demonstrate the willingness and ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of CFG's substantive areas of work.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and regularly.
- Fluent professional English (additional languages are an asset, particularly those spoken widely across Africa, Asia, Latin America or the Middle East).
- Compassion, intellectual humility, collaboration, and a genuine willingness to question your own preconceptions on controversial issues.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates based outside Europe and from Global Majority countries. Ensuring that our international engagement work is genuinely shaped by perspectives from across the world is a strategic priority for this role, and professional experience, networks and languages from these regions are directly relevant to the job. All candidates are assessed against the same criteria above, and we welcome applications from anyone who meets them.
What we offer
- A full-time contract, with a gross annual salary in the range of €80,000-90,000, depending on experience and seniority.
- A remote-based role with regular travel to Brussels, international meetings and conferences, and partner locations around the world.
- The opportunity to shape global discussions and governance around one of the most consequential emerging technologies of our time, while contributing to a fast-paced think tank that values creativity, initiative and professional growth.
- The opportunity to deepen your understanding of the other emerging technologies CFG works on and contribute to cross-cutting analysis and governance approaches.
- A collaborative, mission-driven and intellectually stimulating working environment, with exceptional colleagues committed to tackling complex global challenges.
