Joining Roche means bringing your purpose to a team that values integrity, courage, and passion, ensuring that the right treatment reaches the right patient at the right time.

An integral part of achieving this vision is delivering innovative data solutions to the Pharma Technical Operations Quality and Compliance (PTQ) organization. Working at the direct intersection of Quality Control (QC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), you will champion initiatives that enable our global network to leverage both real-time and predictive data analytics using advanced digital and AI-enabled ecosystems.

Specifically, this role offers a unique opportunity to identify strategic use cases and pioneer Applied and Agentic AI processes across Roche’s global Quality Control Network. Your work will empower teams not only to detect current defects, but to forecast future issues—driving faster, better-informed decisions and elevating commercial excellence.

As a Product Owner – AI & Digital Innovation (Quality Control) in PTQ Network Quality Control, you will play a critical role in managing AI solutions and agentic workflows across commercial QC to unlock deeper insights, streamline operations, and boost laboratory productivity:

  • Identify High-Impact QC AI Use Cases: Partner closely with business stakeholders and prioritize high-value opportunities for AI and digital tools. Translate complex laboratory challenges into structured, scalable data products that address critical business needs.
  • Architect Predictive & Agentic Workflows: Translate identified use cases into functional, compliant data products. Help design and deploy agentic workflows that analyze complex datasets, detect subtle trends, forecast potential deviations and highlight critical anomalies for scientific investigation.
  • Accelerate Quality Mindset Shift from Reactive to Proactive: Drive the implementation of AI solutions that transition QC from reactive quality analysis to proactive quality intelligence, accelerating time-to-resolution and improving QC efficiency.
  • Champion an AI-Enabled Quality Culture: Act as a change agent at the intersection of AI and Quality Control. Promote the adoption of digital tools to foster continuous improvement, increase scientific agility and accelerate agile decision-making across global sites.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Alignment: Build and maintain collaborative partnerships across multidisciplinary teams—including lab scientists, data engineers, software architects and Quality experts—to ensure AI solutions align with business objectives and measurably improve Quality metrics.
  • Deliver Network QC Business: Fulfill roles and responsibilities according to department needs.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related scientific/technical discipline.
  • Industry Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or highly regulated environment. Direct, hands-on experience in QC laboratory operations is necessary.
  • AI & Agentic Concepts: Strong foundational understanding of Applied and Agentic AI (e.g., autonomous workflows), including the application of digital tools for data analysis, troubleshooting and issue remediation.
  • Use Case Discovery & Strategy: Proven ability to analyze complex QC problems, engage stakeholders, map scientific workflows and articulate business cases for digital/AI solutions.
  • Project & Product Management: Self-directed capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, prioritizing deliverables based on business impact and strategic alignment.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Strong familiarity with regulatory expectations, cGMP requirements, and ICH guidelines, including evolving global guidance regarding computerized system validation (CSV), data integrity (ALCOA+), and AI/ML applications.
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to translate complex AI and technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, bridging the gap between data scientists and QC operators.
