Lead Engineer (Database)

 

 

 

 

 

At Ideagen, we're building the data platforms that power a global portfolio of products. We're looking for a Lead Database Engineer to lead Database Engineering Squad 2, driving database architecture, performance, reliability, and modernization across our SQL Server and PostgreSQL estate.As a hands-on technical leader, you will define the technical direction for the squad while actively contributing to complex database engineering challenges. You'll work closely with engineers, architects, and product teams to ensure our databases remain scalable, secure, and resilient as our product portfolio continues to grow.

• →Lead the technical direction and delivery of Database Engineering Squad 2.
• →Design and optimize database architectures across SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.
• →Drive database performance tuning, scalability improvements, and modernization initiatives.
• →Establish standards for database design, migrations, security, backup, and recovery.
• →Lead complex schema changes, cloud migrations, and high-availability solutions.
• →Partner with engineering teams to solve performance and reliability challenges at the right layer.
• →Mentor and coach Database Engineers, fostering technical excellence and AI-assisted engineering practices.
• →Contribute to major incident management, root cause analysis, and long-term remediation.
• →Champion automation, Infrastructure as Code, database CI/CD, and operational best practices.

• Extensive database engineering experience, including architecture, performance tuning, and operational excellence at scale.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
• Experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, or Managed Instance.
• Proven track record leading technical direction while remaining hands-on.
• Experience with automation, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and modern Git workflows.
• Strong communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
