Psychologist -Senior Clinical (Adult Outpatient)
Quick Summary
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations, including diagnostic clarification for complex and co-occurring presentations referred by psychiatry and primary care,
We are seeking a Clinical Psychologist to join the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic at Hennepin Healthcare, a Level I trauma center and safety-net hospital in downtown Minneapolis. Our patients come from across Hennepin County and the surrounding region, many of them people who face barriers to care elsewhere, and the clinic's work is shaped by that mission.
The clinic is a fast-paced, hospital-based outpatient setting that provides approximately 28,000 to 30,000 patient visits annually through a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Clinicians work with adults presenting with a broad range of mental health concerns, including acute and complex presentations, trauma-related disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, substance use concerns, and co-occurring medical conditions. Psychologists serve as a diagnostic resource for the team, evaluating patients referred by psychiatry and primary care for diagnostic clarification and psychotherapy.
The clinic is staffed by approximately 75 employees and trainees, including a diverse therapy team representing a range of clinical backgrounds, specialties, and theoretical orientations. Therapists have access to regularly scheduled multidisciplinary and therapy-focused consultation meetings and ongoing professional development. Psychologists supervise and teach in our APA accredited internship and contribute to interdisciplinary education, which may include psychiatry resident teaching.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position, Monday through Friday, daytime hours. A hybrid model is available where providers may work one day per week remotely, should there be patient need for virtual visits. Hennepin Healthcare offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health and retirement benefits, an annual business expense allowance, and five paid continuing education (CE) days.

- Conduct suicide and violence risk assessments, develop safety plans with patients, and respond to clinical crises in coordination with the multidisciplinary team
- Collaborate with patients and, when appropriate, caregivers and other members of their support system to develop treatment plans informed by assessment findings
- Provide culturally responsive, evidence-based psychotherapy in individual, group, couples, and family modalities for a range of psychological disorders, including co-occurring substance use disorders
- Work effectively with medical interpreters and adapt assessment and treatment for patients across languages and cultures
- Consult with psychiatrists, nurses, and other team members on diagnosis, treatment planning, and care coordination
- Connect patients with community resources and referral networks along with partnering with our internal social worker
- Complete documentation and billing in a timely and accurate manner
