Optical Technician

• Perform various functions associated with fabrication of optical components such as profiling, cutting, milling, grinding, beveling, blocking, polishing, edging, cleaning, and testing using appropriate machines and equipment
• Use a variety of metrology and inspection tools to test and inspect optical components for accuracy and quality
• Handle delicate parts repetitively and assist with the cleaning and handling of raw materials, finished parts, and tools or fixtures
• Read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
• Follow appropriate safety and equipment maintenance procedures

• PHYSICAL: Able to lift up to 30 pounds, can stand for 3-5 hours or sit for 4-8 hours per shift, and have steady hands
• SKILL: Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks; has basic knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; is proficient with MS Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Teams; must be able to communicate clearly and able to read and write using the English language
• JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations
• SUPERVISION: Normally receives little instruction on daily work, general instructions on newly introduced assignments
• EXPERIENCE: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent education plus a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience; 1-2 years of technical training or manufacturing experience preferred, with weight given to experience with operating CNC machining tools
