Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape how US commercial franchise, Advanced Wound Management (AWM) competes, invests and executes. As Senior Director, Commercial Analytics & Strategy, you will turn data into decisions, advise senior leaders and build the performance systems that connect strategy to measurable results in the field.

You will lead a commercial analytics and strategy organization, establish trusted standards for decision-making and use AI to improve the speed, quality and scale of commercial insight and execution.

This role is based in Fort Worth, TX on a hybrid model.

What will you be doing?

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to Commercial Excellence and franchise leadership, translating the most important commercial questions into clear, decision-ready recommendations.
  • Own the commercial performance management framework, KPI architecture and monthly and quarterly operating rhythm, ensuring gaps to plan are identified early and addressed through accountable action plans.
  • Lead annual commercial planning, forecasting and target setting in partnership with Finance and sales leadership, including scenario modeling and risk-and-opportunity assessments.
  • Design and govern incentive compensation strategy, evaluating plan cost, payout distribution, behavioral impact and pay-for-performance outcomes.
  • Lead sales force sizing, structure, territory alignment and quota methodology, supported by opportunity-based analysis, fairness testing and clear investment cases.
  • Establish a consistent approach to evaluating commercial investments, including programs, promotions, launches, contract strategies and headcount, with pre-investment business cases and post-investment reviews.
  • Turn strategy into practical field priorities across account targeting, call planning and pipeline discipline, measuring adoption and impact at regional and territory levels.
  • Set the roadmap for advanced analytics and AI-enabled insight, including segmentation, predictive models, account economics and market intelligence, while maintaining appropriate data governance.
  • Partner across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Market Access, Pricing, Operations and IT to align data, definitions and priorities and influence enterprise decisions.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team of people managers and analysts, raising standards for analytical quality, structured problem solving, executive communication and AI fluency.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance or a quantitative field; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial analytics, sales operations, commercial strategy or management consulting, including 5+ years leading teams of managers and analysts.
  • Proven experience advising senior executives and leading incentive compensation, sales force deployment and commercial planning processes at scale.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including P&L, ROI, pricing and margin analysis, forecasting and investment evaluation.
  • Executive presence and the ability to simplify complex analysis into clear recommendations, challenge assumptions constructively and influence without direct authority.
  • Advanced proficiency with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, CRM platforms such as Salesforce, and Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Python or R is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI or generative AI to commercial analytics or sales workflows is strongly preferred.
  • Medical device, MedTech or healthcare experience is strongly preferred.
  • Curiosity, sound judgment, change leadership and a commitment to turning strategy into consistent execution.
