Finance & AccountingAccountant

Join a growing accounting function as it transitions from an outsourced model to a fully in-house department. As a hands-on Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in establishing reliable accounting processes and maintaining accurate financial records. Working closely with the Controller as part of an initial two-person team, you will take ownership of customer invoicing, accounts receivable, customer account maintenance, and sales tax administration. Over time, your responsibilities will expand to include broader general accounting and monthly close activities. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of a department, improve day-to-day processes, and make a meaningful impact in a technology-focused environment that values accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.

In this role, you will initially focus on customer accounting, accounts receivable, and sales tax administration, while progressively taking on additional responsibilities as the accounting function moves in-house.

  • Prepare and issue accurate customer invoices on time, coordinating with internal teams to resolve billing questions and discrepancies.

  • Record and apply customer payments and credit memos, ensuring account credits are accurate and investigating unapplied payments or outstanding credit balances.

  • Coordinate refunds and account adjustments in accordance with established approval procedures and documentation requirements.

  • Respond to customer billing inquiries and reconcile customer account balances.

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue invoices, payment discrepancies, and disputed balances.

  • Coordinate collection activities with customers and internal stakeholders, working closely with the Controller.

  • Maintain clear records of follow-ups and escalate unresolved issues when necessary.

  • Provide regular updates to the Controller on aging balances, collection progress, and accounts requiring attention.

  • Manage day-to-day sales tax administration under the Controller’s supervision, reviewing taxes charged on customer invoices and investigating discrepancies.

  • Maintain customer exemption certificates and supporting sales tax documentation.

  • Prepare sales tax account reconciliations, investigate differences, and coordinate necessary corrections.

  • Coordinate with external providers responsible for sales tax return preparation and filing, review supporting information, and monitor filing and payment deadlines.

  • Assist with sales tax notices and information requests, referring technical and compliance decisions to the Controller and external tax advisors.
