About KOSSA
KOSSA is building a future where life outcomes are driven by talent and determination, not circumstance or gender. Through grassroots football tournaments across nine West African countries, KOSSA identifies talented young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and supports their development through elite residential academies and pathways into professional football.
KOSSA Play is the venture's media production arm. It is more than a communications function: its content and intellectual property strategy is designed to build audiences and commercially valuable stories through licensing, syndication and platform opportunities, while delivering sponsor activation across countries and channels.
Overview
The Social Media & Content Producer will be responsible for building and managing KOSSA Play's social media presence, capturing original content and converting ongoing production into distinctive, platform-native stories. TikTok will be the lead platform, supported by Instagram, YouTube and relevant emerging platforms.
The role combines filming, fast-turnaround editing, editorial storytelling, social media publishing, community engagement and performance analysis. The successful candidate will work with young athletes, their families and communities to develop character-driven narratives that audiences follow over time, rather than relying solely on isolated moments or viral clips.
The role also includes content production for selected Solon portfolio projects and CMAP programmes, extending the editorial scope to subjects such as climate, community, music and livelihoods. The editorial standard is grounded in serious documentary filmmaking and established by KOSSA Play's Senior Creative Producer.
Core Purpose of the Role
To establish KOSSA Play as a distinctive, high-performing digital content brand that tells compelling and responsible stories about African football talent, builds sustained audiences and develops valuable media and sponsorship assets.
The successful candidate will identify the moments, characters and wider social context that make these stories compelling. Over time, they will help audiences follow individual players and their journeys on and off the pitch - from training and tournaments to family life, school and community.
Key Responsibilities
- Film original content regularly at the Clubhouse, training sessions, school runs, music studios, tournaments and other programme activities using a camera or smartphone. Find spontaneous, visually compelling moments and operate independently to identify stories as they unfold.
- Create short-form videos, reels, stories, carousels and longer-form edits when required. Edit footage to platform-specific standards, including colour grading, graphics, captions, sound design and concise, engaging copy. Be capable of turning footage into publishable content quickly, including a shoot-to-post turnaround of under one hour when needed.
- Manage KOSSA Play's presence across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and relevant emerging channels. Publish and schedule content, respond to comments, develop community relationships and grow an engaged following. TikTok is the lead platform, Instagram is core, and YouTube mid-form content (approximately 3-10 minutes) supports documentary storytelling and sponsor assets.
- Build a content strategy that follows players, families and communities across time and locations. Curate recurring characters and storylines, identify material suitable for future documentary or profile work, and connect individual athlete journeys with broader themes such as gender, climate, migration and opportunity. Work toward developing six to ten recurring characters whose stories audiences follow over months and years.
- Produce and adapt content from KOSSA programmes, Solon portfolio projects and CMAP initiatives as relevant. Identify material that supports sponsor storytelling, partnerships and cross-platform distribution, while maintaining the project's editorial standards.
- Extract shareable moments from ongoing productions and archived footage. Maintain an organised content archive that supports future profiles, longer-form documentaries and sponsor deliverables. Work closely with the Senior Creative Producer, Lead Editor, wider creative team and marketing colleagues to develop and execute editorial ideas.
- Deliver an initial output of approximately 15-20 pieces of content per week, scaling toward 25-30 or more as the team matures. Be comfortable producing three to five pieces per day when required. Report on content performance weekly and review editorial and growth strategy monthly, using audience insights to improve future content.
- Apply KOSSA's permissions, consent and safeguarding protocols when capturing, storing and publishing content involving children. Exercise sound judgment around privacy, identity, dignity and exposure on public platforms. Formal safeguarding training will be provided on commencement.
Candidate Requirements
- The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong portfolio of social media content they personally filmed, edited or produced, rather than only managed. They must understand TikTok and Instagram as creative platforms, with a proven instinct for engaging visual storytelling, compelling captions and the pace of social-first production.
- Essential technical skills include original filming with a smartphone and/or camera; professional editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve; mobile-first tools such as CapCut or InShot; and proficiency in colour grading, graphics and basic motion design. Candidates must be comfortable producing a high volume of finished work to tight deadlines, including rapid turnaround when needed.
- Strong independent judgment, self-direction, the ability to find stories without detailed instructions, and sensitivity when working with young people are essential. The successful candidate must understand the implications of filming minors and sharing their images online.
Preferred
- West African cultural fluency, knowledge of football, documentary filmmaking sensibility and the ability to recognise wider social themes within personal stories are strong differentiators. Awareness of music and audio production is valuable given KOSSA's Chicoco Music dimension.
- Additional advantages include experience with design software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop or Canva), scheduling tools (Later, Hootsuite, Sprout Social or equivalent), data analytics and digital media asset management.
- Ideal Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate instinctively notices the moments others overlook, can film and edit with speed, and understands how to turn individual scenes into stories that audiences care about. They combine strong visual craft with empathy, curiosity, cultural awareness and a genuine interest in people beyond the football pitch.
- They are comfortable working on the ground in Port Harcourt, collaborating with an international production team and taking ownership of the full content process - from finding a story through publishing, engagement and performance review.
What Success Looks Like
Within three months, KOSSA Play should be publishing at least 15 pieces a week with a recognisable visual identity, growing audience engagement and a clear content rhythm aligned with Clubhouse operations and the tournament calendar.
Within twelve months, the ambition is for KOSSA Play to be a leading football-and-development content brand in the African digital space, with recurring player stories, inbound sponsor interest and an organised production model that can expand across the academy network.
Location, Duration & Terms
Base: Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Minimum on-site presence is two weeks per month or approximately 2.5 days per week; the exact arrangement is negotiable. Occasional travel to project sites across West Africa may be required, particularly for tournaments and academy events.
Start date is flexible. The role is offered on a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. Compensation includes a competitive salary and performance bonus, with a relocation package where applicable. Equipment is provided.
Reporting
The Social Media & Content Producer reports to the Senior Creative Producer and collaborates closely with the Lead Editor, wider creative team and marketing. Weekly content performance reports and monthly strategic reviews are expected.
Why This Role Matters
KOSSA Play is building more than a social media feed. By following the lives and development of young athletes across West Africa, it seeks to create valuable audiences, intellectual property and sponsor assets while bringing authentic, character-led stories to an international audience.
The Social Media & Content Producer will help define how those stories are told, how communities are represented and how KOSSA develops a lasting editorial identity.
KOSSA is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and particularly encourages applications from qualified female candidates.
