Description
The Role
Are you a high-performing operations leader ready to take on a career-defining opportunity? General Motors (GM) is seeking a Site Leader to lead our Flint, MI Customer Care and Aftersales (CCA) operation. This is not a conventional Tier One site—it is a complex, integrated processing-and-paint operation that combines sheet-metal processing, painting, warehousing, dealer-direct activity, and redistribution/carload work.
GM’s Customer Care and Aftersales (CCA) organization provides customer support and post-vehicle purchase services, including vehicle parts, service, and support for recalls and warranties. CCA manages the supply chain for service parts through a network of Processing Centers, Redistribution Centers, and Parts Distribution Centers. The Flint Site Leader is responsible for leading a large, cross-functional workforce and partnering with labor, environmental, quality, engineering, supply chain, HR/LR, finance, and other business stakeholders. The role requires an inspirational people leader and change agent who can deliver safety, environmental, quality, service, cost, and employee-engagement results in a fast-paced, shift-based operation.
What You’ll Do
As the Flint CCA Site Leader (Plant Manager), you’ll be responsible for:
Full site ownership across safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost, delivery, productivity, and employee engagement.
Leading a site workforce of approximately 350 employees, while building a high-performance culture across 31 salaried team members through feedback, accountability, inclusion, engagement, and visible presence on the operating floor.
Providing strategic and operational leadership across sheet-metal processing, paint operations, warehousing, dealer-direct activity, and redistribution/carload work.
Driving operational excellence through strategic planning, standardized work, lean methods, continuous improvement, and disciplined change leadership.
Maintaining robust paint-process controls across ELPO/e-coat, sealer, booth, and topcoat operations, including regenerative thermal oxidizer requirements, continuous temperature recording, minimum retention time, and no-visible-emissions controls.
Leading environmental stewardship for on-site wastewater treatment and paint-related chemical, solvent, ELPO/phosphate, sludge, and wastewater streams.
Using operating data and key performance indicators to improve volume, productivity, labor utilization, overtime, quality, service, and cost.
Building strong partnerships with labor representatives and business stakeholders; navigating labor relations with confidence, integrity, and respect.
Establishing clear goals, operating rhythms, performance standards, and action plans aligned with CCA and GM business objectives.
Ensuring compliance with GM policies, safety requirements, environmental standards, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws.
Leading response to operational disruptions, customer-impacting issues, safety or quality concerns, material-flow constraints, and environmental events—including conditions that could require process shutdown, material strip-out, or escalation.
Managing site staffing, workforce planning, timekeeping, overtime, succession planning, talent development, performance management, preventive maintenance, and capital priorities.
Collaborating across CCA and with engineering, quality, EHS, supply chain, HR/LR, finance, and other corporate functions to align site performance with broader business goals.
Representing the facility in CCA leadership reviews and communicating performance, risks, opportunities, recovery plans, and resource needs.
Promoting a customer-first mindset that supports GM dealers, ACDelco customers, accessory customers, and other CCA stakeholders.
