Your diesel skills. A defense mission. A career that takes you places.
NOW HIRING: FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIANS — Jacksonville, FLRemote field service roles | Up to 75% travel | $10,000 total bonus opportunity
You know how to troubleshoot an engine, work with your hands, and keep equipment running when people are counting on you. Bring that experience to Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD).
Whether you developed your skills in the military, an independent diesel shop, a generator service business, or through trade school followed by hands-on experience, your background could be a strong fit.
Military veterans and experienced diesel engine and generator technicians are encouraged to apply.
Put your skills behind a mission that matters
FMD designs, builds, and services mission-critical naval power, propulsion, and other essential systems that help keep fleets ready. Here, the quality of your work supports the equipment—and the people—behind the mission.
For veterans, it’s an opportunity to bring your technical experience and mission-first mindset into a civilian career. For diesel and generator technicians, it’s a chance to apply your troubleshooting skills to equipment with a larger purpose.
Bring your toolbox. Expand your horizons.
If you enjoy hands-on work, changing environments, and solving problems in the field, this role offers the opportunity to travel domestically and internationally—up to 75% of the time.
You’ll install, commission, maintain, diagnose, and repair equipment at customer locations. Depending on your qualifications and certifications, that equipment may include diesel engines, electrical controls, cranes, elevators, davits, and roll-up doors.
This is a travel-intensive field service position. Assignments may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and emergency call-outs
.

We’re looking for dependable technicians with strong mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, and pride in a job done right.
