Patient Financial Representative-Insurance Verification and Authorization- Patient Financial Services-Corporate 42nd Street Full-Time- Days (M-F & one Saturday Monthly)

The overall responsibility of this position is to interview all self-pay patients, an if deemed appropriate, to initiate any application to the NYS Medical Assistance program on their behalf.

1.  Conduct a financial review of all hospital inpatients who are admitted without insurance coverage and/or for all other case referrals. 

2.  Export report from epic and work self-pay admits 

3.  Screen Daily Admission for primary insurance and make corrections.

4.  Forward corrections to Admitting Office.

5.  Verify insurances coverage and forward to IV Team. 

6.  Bill patients for deductibles and co-payments. 

7.  Screen patients for Medicaid or Financial Assistance Programs.

8.  Update Hospital financial systems.

9. Answer Telephones and assist patients with payment arrangements and concerns.

10. Process patient applications for Financial Assistance.

11. Meet and greet patients & obtain documents and signatures.

The person in this role must consistently exhibit the following qualities and competencies:

High school diploma required.

Experience Requirements                                                                                                                 

1.        Ability to read and understand written English words and sentences.

2.         Ability to communicate English words and sentences, orally and in writing.

3.         Must have basic PC skills.

4.         Prior experience with patient registrations and/or insurance verification.

3.         Proficiency in other languages a plus.

The salary range for the role is $30.08 - $31.93 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
