Part-Time Cellular Therapies Lab Assistant

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for a dependable, organized Part-Time Cellular Therapies Lab Assistant in Gainesville, FL. In this role, you’ll support the lab’s daily operations by helping process, handle, store, and transport blood specimens and components.

• →Receive and prepare specimens for testing, verify labels and paperwork, and help resolve discrepancies
• →Prepare and distribute lab reports and related documents
• →Restock lab supplies and prepare biohazard containers for disposal
• →Perform routine equipment checks, monitor temperatures, and assist with cleaning and maintenance
• →Transport specimens and blood components according to established procedures
• →Assist with the storage and retrieval of cord blood units and samples from liquid nitrogen freezers, refrigerators, and other storage equipment
• →Assemble cord blood collection kits
• →Follow lab safety procedures and wear required PPE when handling reagents and chemicals
• →Manage multiple tasks and priorities while completing assigned work accurately and within required timeframes
• →Work both independently and collaboratively to support the needs of the laboratory team

• High school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to meet and maintain LifeSouth driver eligibility requirements
• Dependability, punctuality, and strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently, stay on task, and meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn laboratory systems and processes
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures, moderately complex written and verbal instructions, and laboratory safety requirements, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 55 pounds and perform activities such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and balancing

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree 
• Previous laboratory experience
