Chemistry Teacher

We are looking for a Middle School Chemistry Teacher for a bilingual international school in Shanghai’s Pudong district. This position is available from the upcoming 2027/28 academic year in August 2027

Job Responsibilities

• Teach chemistry to middle school students within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)
• Plan inquiry-based lessons that connect chemical concepts with real-world applications
• Develop students’ scientific understanding, experimental skills and ability to analyse evidence
• Organise practical investigations and ensure safe handling of laboratory equipment and chemicals
• Guide students in forming hypotheses, interpreting data and evaluating scientific conclusions
• Assess learning using MYP criteria and provide constructive feedback
• Collaborate with science colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary learning

• Bachelor’s degree
• Recognised teaching qualification
• Previous teaching experience in China
• Strong subject knowledge in chemistry and understanding of laboratory safety
• Ability to plan and deliver inquiry-based science lessons within the IB MYP framework
• Strong communication, collaboration and classroom management skills
