Middle School Literature Teacher

We are looking for a Middle School Literature Teacher for a bilingual international school in Shanghai’s Pudong district. This position is available from the upcoming 2027/28 academic year in August 2027.

Job Responsibilities

• Teach literature to middle school students within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)
• Develop students’ close reading, literary analysis, writing and oral communication skills
• Guide students in exploring texts across genres, cultures and historical contexts
• Plan inquiry-based units that connect literary study with MYP concepts and global contexts
• Design assessments aligned with MYP criteria and provide constructive feedback
• Differentiate instruction to support students with varied language abilities and learning needs
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary learning

• Bachelor’s degree
• Recognised teaching qualification
• Previous teaching experience in China
• Strong knowledge of literature and the ability to develop students’ analytical and writing skills
• Ability to plan and deliver lessons within the IB MYP framework
• Strong communication, collaboration and classroom management skills
